The White House spins and deaths keep coming
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 09:32 PM by TayTay
Dixon, Christopher R., Private 1st Class in the US Marine Reserve died in Iraq on 05/11/05. He was 18 years old, the same age as my son.

Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press," said Senate Democrats such as Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.), Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) and John F. Kerry (Mass.) were "smearing Karl Rove" and urged them to apologize. Citing Cooper's article and others, Mehlman said: "Democrat partisans on the Hill have engaged in a smear campaign where they have attacked Karl Rove on the basis of information which actually vindicates and exonerates him, not implicates him." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...

Crowley, Kyle D., Lance Corporal, U.S. Marine, died in Iraq on 04/06/04. He was 18, the same age as my son.

C reported on his recent talks in Washington. There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. The NSC had no patience with the UN route, and no enthusiasm for publishing material on the Iraqi regime's record. There was little discussion in Washington of the aftermath after military action.

Huff, Sam W., Private 1st Class in the U.S. Army died in Iraq on 04/18/05. She was 18, the same age as my son.

Rove, the architect behind President Bush’s election victories, on Wednesday night told a gathering of the New York Conservative Party that “Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.” Conservatives, he said, “saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.”

He added that groups linked to the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for “moderation and restraint” after the terrorist attacks. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8324598 /

Mihalakis, Michael G., Specialist in the U.S. Army National Guard died in Iraq on 12/26/03. He was 18, the same age as my son.

The Rove thing isn't about partisan politics. It isn't about gaining an advantage for 2006. It's about 23 kids who will never live to see their 19th birthday because they died in a war that the President of the United States initiated based on lies. It's about 110 19 year olds who will never live to marry, raise children, buy a house or get a job. It's about 199 20 year olds who will never be old enough to legally buy a beer, who will never graduate from college and never again embrace a sister or laugh with friends.

And it's about families, real American families who will forever ache to hold someone who will never come home. It's about parents who have had to bury a kid who never really got to taste life and who now never will. Because of a war that was based on lies.

That's what the Rove thing means to me.

1. Today I brought my 8 and 11-year-old grandsons home to visit with me
They'll be here a few days, laughing and swimming and doing kid things and keeping grannie company and on her toes and grateful for their presence.

And I keep thinking that in just a few years, they might be going off to a foreign country to fight and die in a war that has no meaning because a lying, evil man determined their lives have no meaning, just as the lives of all those kids mentioned, and the agony their families are experiencing might be mine and my grandsons' parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, other grandparents...

God, I hate Bush and his evil war based on and continued on LIES! I am resolved that I will do everything in my power to assure my grandsons do not share the fate of those beloved deceased listed on icasualties. I pray the White House will spin itself into oblivion and that somewhere there is justice and retribution for what these evil creatures have done to our children and to our country.

2. I simply cannot imagine the agony the peole are going through
And I only mentioned the US lives. Surely the Iraqi Mother and fathers, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives mourn their dead and fear for the future ever bit as much as we do.

I simply do not have a website from which to get the names of the Iraqis who have died. And the list would be very long.

All of this because of a war based on lies.

And I can still edit:

Everyone should know that I did because of what you wrote and, ahm, thanks! Nicest error reportage I ever had!

And my deepest apologies and regret for the error. It was inadvertant.

5. I have daughters, one of them draft age.
Every time a girl dies in Iraq while freeper "men" are yelling "stay the course" and shrub's daughters are yelling "Oh my GOD! I think I just puked up my diaphragm!" I get a bit angrier.

6. Gawd, it just makes me angrier
I look at my 18 year old and my 20 year old and I just want to cry. Then you read about how Veterans benefits are being cut and undermined. You read about how the VA is trying to kick the wounded out and charge them for meals they get during their hospital stays. And all the other outrages.

If I didn't get angry and vow to do what I can to stop this horrible war based on lies, I would spend all my time in tears. It's just so awful and so sad.

Again, thanks!
