4. The individual stations likely would keep track of their ratings. Doubt
that AAR would per station or would have the valuable demographic data for each station. But you could ask them to see what they have.

3. Split by demographics is proprietary info and not available to public.
And the demographics are important. 18-54 or something like that is what stations/advertisers use for advertising rates.

But for whole lump rating numbers here's a site where you can look up by city/station. http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRRatings/

Don't know of a place that specifically provides ratings just for AAR stations. And again, the demo breakdown has the significant numbers in terms of advertising rates but is not generally available.

9. Not sure if the Sky is falling yet though :)
1.3 spring 04
1.4 summer 04
1.2 fall 04
1.2 winter 05

Check out the trend though, it's not really too signifigant of a ratings drop, from what data is posted there. (From spring '04 - winter '05)

I only shortened the list to show the talk radio stations above WLIB in the ratings.

And this is OVERALL ratings, as was pointed out here, and the specific show-by-show demographic breakdown is what sells ads.

I've heard claims that individual shows on WLIB do much better than other shows in the same market.

12. Right because most stations are on 24/7. I'd imagine that the night...
hours would bring down the average significantly.

14. Those were for Winter 04' no?
Edited on Mon Jul-18-05 02:17 PM by Lecky
I bet they will show some improvement soon. It will happen gradually...

I just discovered Air America a few months ago and I can't get enough, I'm addicted.

Also, Ed Shulz who doesn't associate himself with AAR but it's clear he is a democrat, has fantastic ratings. The tide is turning :)

Well, a lot has changed since March, it will take a while for AAR to be as big as RW talk radio. I hope their marketing team is working hard to get the message out.

Only reason I started listening was because of the DU links. Then I checked my local AM stations to see if we carried it. I'm willing to bet a lot of people in my area have no idea LW talk radio exists.

The Air America Recipe: Bring progressive Air America Radio to your community
by bryanb
Mon Jul 18th, 2005 at 11:47:23 PDT
Congratulations to Baton Rouge for bringing in AAR! We had typed this diary a while ago, but had not yet posted it. It contains ideas not included in the Baton Rouge diary from last week, and is an organized, step-by-step compilation of what others have done to bring AAR to their communities, including Spokane, Washington. When we typed it, we had in mind something that was handbook style. Please spread this around, citing Eastern Washington Voters were applicable.

Would you like to tune into a progressive radio station in your community instead of non-stop conservative radio and their hate, prejudice, and greed? Well . . . so have many other Americans, and they have taken action to bring progressive radio to their communities, specifically Air America Radio (AAR). They have been successful even in Republican states, such as in Louisiana. Here is what people have done, and what you can do as well. Although we call this a recipe for bringing in AAR, good cooks can improvise, of course.

Here was an earlier Diary that had a lot of information both in the Diary and in the Comments.

UPDATE: Air America in Bush Country - How it was done
by hbyronk
Tue Jul 12th, 2005 at 14:15:15 PDT
In an earlier post, I explained that a group of interested citizens, led by a Baton Rouge woman named Vicki Lancaster, had convinced Clear Channel to put Air America Radio on one of its broadcast properties in Louisiana's capitol city.

Ms. Lancaster responded by leaving a comment on my blog, where the story was cross-posted. She explained how she and her associates went about it.

This could serve as a template for Progressives around the country in convincing radio broadcasters to make Air America available on their airwaves.
