EYE ON POLITICS: Ted Nugent may have 2006 campaign in his sights

-snip-

Nugent's periodic flirtation with public office often seems to conveniently coincide with the promotion of his other interests, concert tours, hunting and gun rights (he's been on the board of the National Rifle Association for 10 years). But let's assume for a minute that he's serious about being Michigan's governor. There are a few things it would be nice to know.

For one, is Ted Nugent a Republican?

Everyone sort of assumes so; he's described himself as politically aligned with Rush Limbaugh. He's been sought out for endorsement by Republican candidates stretching back to President George Bush. GOP pols say Ted gives 'em street cred with fans of hard rock and with gun owners (which they weigh against the likelihood he'll use an endorsement announcement to say something other voters find truly offensive).

2. Nuge would have to be a fool
to run. 'Mr. Family Values' has had a child with another woman while married and would only attract extremists in the state.

4. "have to be a fool"?
What's your point?;)

By the way, I suspect the fact that he's bragged about his sexual exploits with underage girls would likely come up, as well.

6. why not Wisc.? he can run on a "kill-all-cats" platform and work out
his tremendous frustrations and shortcomings there: he already legalized blasting mourning doves into smithereens there with his new AK. Or maybe he'll just crap himself as always: this has been a thirty-year goal of my avatar's, in fact, if he ever gets out from his Typhon-like imprisonment in Nevada.

7. Nugent's crap
I remember when music had relevance. Then Nugent and his kind came in promoted by the advertising biz. If I pick up a guitar I may play a song that's a hundred years old, not Nugent's form of dissociation.

9. You mean an NRA board member is a Republican???
WTF? I thought they were a politically neutral organization only interested in gun proliferation? I'm shocked to hear that the NRA may actually have a right wing bias.
