San Diego's acting mayor convicted. Will resign after 3 days taking over..
The mess continues.
There was an election and the "write in" candidate,a dem, gets more votes.

Repugs go to court and disallow many of the ballots due to a technicality.

Election is given to incumbent mayor Dick Murphy (R-Do nothing)

Newsweek rates Murphy as one of the three worst mayors in the US.

Murphy resigns shortly after Newsweek's story.

Councilman Michael Zucchet is selected as "interim" mayor last friday.

Today,Zucchet is convicted of corruption charges and must resign as mayor and councilman.

A "special election" will take place in a couple of weeks. Right now we have no mayor of San Diego.

7. Council sets are technically non-partisan, but he's really a Democrat.
When he ran he was endorsed by Susan Davis and Dede Alpert, and he endorsed my Assemblywoman (Lori Saldana).

13. I think there's three more.
Young, Frye and Atkins. Not 100% sure about Young, but the other two I am.

10. Is there a specific law against taking money from strip club owners?
Or did he really bend/break a law and the others involved happen to be owners of a strip club?

Ever think of running yourself? Let's get DUers elected!

12. Taking money to change the "no touch" laws.
Strip club owner was buying a vote and influence to change a law.

14. Ah. I guess if he was convicted he took actual steps to change the
law then. In that case, he's gotta go.

You skipped the other question, Councilmember Maveric(D-Uer), how's that sound?

16. That would be funny. Considering I'm a stutterer. Oh, who knows...
But I do beleive that I'd do better than most who are still or have previously served on the council.

San Diego has and has always had, the WORST elected officials of any major US city.

19. Turn the stuttering into your advantage! You know how the lazy media
is, they like it when the story writes itself.

Your first line is a great campaign slogan.

I've always felt San Diego deserves better representation than she's received and though I may stutter when I talk, I do believe I'd do better than most.

Give San Diego what she deserves
Vote for Maveric for City Council

Use that BTO song as your hook, bbbbbaby, you ain't seen nothing yet!

NOTE: Reference to a song that has stuttering is not a joke or making fun, it's a great way to take the battle head on and turn what may seem a liability into a positive (plus it's a fun song) and appropriate message signifying greater things ahead with Councilmember Maveric!!

5. Isn't Duke Cunningham Back In Town?
Either he can play mayor or get familiar with some of his future cellmates. LOL

Now isn't that the second or third election over the past year where there's been lots of questions about the count? Hmmm...

6. Cunningham and Roger Hedgecock could run the city.
Those two crooks would run it into the ground.

9. Hedgecock already tried.
He was once San Diego's mayor and had to resign after his own illegal contributions scandal.

11. I was here when that happened.
Sadly, I voted for him in 1982, not knowing his politics (non-partisan), and hating the other candidate.

15. more san diego politics, congressman in deep do-do
Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham was sittin pretty until his relationship with lobbyist & War Profiteer buddy Mitchell Wade was exposed. Seems he bought Duke's house for much more than it was worth, thus Randy made a killing. He also lived for a time on Mitchell's yacht (not together with Wade).

Randy will not run for reelection. The FBI is investigating Cunningham's activities.

There is no evidence to suggest that Randy's relationship was anything other than congressman-on-the-take and lobbyist.

We do suspect, however, that the public got screwed.

17. Whatever Cunningham did, Duncan Hunter is doing right now.
Hunter is of the same ilk as Randy. Voting for and supporting war while lining his pockets from defense contractor kick-backs.

18. I'm sure Issa will figure out something to get back in the forefront again
... of being the biggest rethugliprik here in San Diego.

Darrel Issa was the bum that funded the Recall that put Arnie into office, and tearfully pulled out of the race at the last moment that he thought was his for the "buying". After all, he's made a fortune selling car alarms that he's learned well how to build after being a car thief with his brother (but never fully prosecuted or investigated for various incidents). Also was a suspected arsonist for insurance fraud purposes for his company in Ohio too. Just a matter of time before he overtakes Cunningham and Hunter again...

He's also the wealthiest congress critter (or close to it) that's in the house (despite all of the Rethugs efforts to try and make the Democrats for being the wealthiest congress critters in congress (the Senate that is).
