He was working on a Supreme Court campaign. The opponent of his candidate had a great reputation for helping kids, and doing all kinds of work for their benefit.

16. Important to remember: I heard the charge on CNN Headline News

in late 2002/early 2003. 'Oh my god,' I thought immediately. 'They're going after Ritter.' That was the last I heard about it in the 'mainstream' corporate media. To many Americans, that's all they ever heard about it. Scott Ritter was guilty to them and not to be believed. The smear worked for the short time. And it apparently will hang around for the long term (Regardless of the fact that, whether he was a pedophile or not had nothing to do with his being correct about WMD information).

It was on CNN Headline News, a national media outlet, and was never countered or corrected by them to my knowledge. The smear worked. As immoral and disgusting as it was to attack this man and his family, Rove et al knew what they were doing.

I've heard Randi mention this a dozen times, but
she never provides context, so it's always left hanging
there.
I decided to put it in front of this brainy community
to provide myself and others with definitive
info in case it comes up.
I admire Scott Ritter and always hold him up as
an example of a brave public servant.
I felt that I needed to have good info at my
fingertips in case the smear ever comes up.
The way GOP minds work is that once the
character assassination is made, the
information goes out the window, and
Ritter is too valuable a player to be left out.
Now I feel I can use his name and example without
fear of any thing coming out of left field that I
can't answer.
