Michael Isikoff Kicked Sean Hannity's ASS re: Rove on H&C/Faux News
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 02:08 AM by writes2000
Kicked His ASS!!!

Every argument, every diversion Hannity threw up, Isikoff (a journalist for Newsweek) had an answer for it and bested him.

Hannity argued that it was CLEAR that no crime had been committed and this whole thing was driven by media bias. Isikoff said he did not believe that was correct. He said that the media has been taking their cues from Patrick Fitzgerald. He said that Fitzgerald's actions indicate that he strongly believes there has been a federal crime committed. And Fitzgerald has been working on this for two years. Isikoff then said Fitzgerald was a smart man who knows how to read the laws. He doubted that Fitzgerald would have been going this long and this hard over nothing.

Around then, Hannity whined about the media not paying enough attention to Wilson's inaccuracies. Hannity then quoted the Identities Act and said it was clear that no crime had been committed. Isikoff went back to Fitzgerald's actions and then he further explained that every judge who has seen Fitzgerald's sealed pages has AGREED that Fitzgerald was on to something big. Isikoff said he hadn't seen those pages. Hannity hadn't. But the judges that did sided with Fitzgerald. Finally, he schooled Hannity that while Rove may not have broken the Identities Act, there are other laws regarding classified information that Rove may have broken.

At that point, believe it or not, Hannity shut up. Colmes made the point that the State Department work up on Wilson was sent to the WH and one week later, Novak's column was out. Colmes said it was clear this was done to attack Wilson.

Isikoff closed by saying that when he went to the initial hearing where Miller & Cooper made their case to not have to testify, Fitzgerald argued that this was not a situation where Miller & Cooper were protecting a whistleblower (which is how the Repubs describe Rove's actions.) No, Isikoff said Fitzgerald argued that Miller & Cooper were protecting people who sought retribution against a whistleblower.

Colmes was left smiling. All Hannity could say weakly in the end is "Well, I disagree."

Democrats talking heads need to watch Isikoff and LEARN.

5. It was a thing of Beauty. I listened to Hannity's crap radio show today
And made myself sick. After an hour, I couldn't listen. He wouldn't let anyone who disagreed with him actually make their case.

Tonight, I just happened to flip past Faux and I saw Isikoff. When I saw him taking on Hannity, I had to watch.

Isikoff wiped the floor with him. And Isikoff wasn't even riled up. He just laid out all of the facts at his disposal. Hannity had to shut his mouth.

4. I love it when Hannity is made to wear his own ass for a hat
He is such a vile human being, and incredibly lacking in curiousity and ethics. If it weren't for FAUX news, Hannity would probably be working security for Focus on the Family prayer meetings!:applause:

I'm betting Isikoff won't be invited on again any time soon, LOL.

We won't see him on H&C again. Isikoff probably knew it would be his last appearance and made it good!

Didn't see it. Thanks for giving a good synopsis.

16. And that's EXACTLY why Judith Miller wound up in the pokey,
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 02:18 AM by ocelot
and why Matt Cooper almost did. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, affirming Judge Hogan's contempt order, said this:

"In essence, seeking protection for sources whose nefariousness he himself exposed, Cooper asks us to protect criminal leaks so that he can write about the crime. The greater public interest lies in preventing the leak in the first place. Had Cooper based his report on leaks *about* the leaks -- say, from a whistleblower who revealed the plot against Wilson -- the situation would be different. Because in that case the source would not have revealed the name of a covert agent, but instead revealed the fact that others had done so, the balance of news value and harm would shift in favor of protecting the whistleblower. Yet it appears Cooper relied on the Plame leaks themselves, drawing the inference of sinister motive on his own. Accordingly, his story itself makes the case for punishing the leakers..."

BTW, this opinion was written by a Reagan appointee, not some flaming librul judge appointed by Clinton.

15. Now look what you've done...
Because of your post I checked my guide, saw that H&C was on and I switched to FOX.

All for naught because apparently this was in the first half hour.

And for what? To see Hannity get his ass kicked for once? Hannity doesn't impress me. His "tactics" are simplistic, repetitive and transparent.

So I wasted half an hour, filled my yearly FOX quota and boosted their dropping ratings over a hot school teacher and another subject that was so intriguing that I already forgot it.

Thanks a LOT!

Lesson learned: If it wasn't for FOX, Hannity wouldn't have a job. Just don't watch it.

Cheers, writes. Thanks for posting ;)

19. Matt Cooper is trying to come off as a nice guy in this but
I feel that he is a jerk. He is part of the V. Wilson outing and the cover up attempt.

20. Right. Cooper is doing some fast
backtracking. Especially his lame "maybe he had a meeting to go to...that's what he meant" explanation of Rove saying to him "I've said too much". He knows Rove meant he had betrayed his security clearance agreement..."I've said too much" but Cooper is trying to straddle the fence now and balance Fitzgerald with the Bush administration.
I think he's a coward.

24. This is the only way we should argue...
Keep bringing it back to Fitzgerald and the judges opinions. The right can try to spin this, just like they have for other things, but this time it won't work. Public opinion has nothing to do with this.

This is a criminal case now... not opinion over the military career of John Kerry.

26. Isikoff
loves to see his face on TV. He was big in trading Clinton sex stories back in the 90s. But anything to smudge that a-hole Hannity is good enough for me.

27. Great summary!
I watched the exchange too. Unlike Hannity, Michael Isikoff was calm, concise and coherent. After he finished reading his talking points, Hannity was essentially speechless. He had nothing left. It was beautiful.
