The ACLU is under investigation by the FBI...
I was listening to some background noise on my way home from work and I specifically heard this mentioned. Does anyone have any news on this ? I think I heard O'Reilly cheering it on?

Watching the Pro-Terror Left
By Ben Johnson
FrontPageMagazine.com | July 19, 2005

Yesterday, viewers of the “mainstream” media received a rare treat; after all, it isn’t everyday two non-stories compete for the front page. Sensing the country may be growing tired during its the sixth straight day of coverage on Karl Rove’s “non-crime in the non-outing of non-secret CIA analyst Valerie Plame,” the media also reproduced the ACLU’s press release littered with non-proof of the FBI’s non-spying on domestic non-peace and non-civil rights organizations that advocate violence or have ties to terror.

8. The left is pro-terror now?! So that means we're pro-*?
Well, many of our elected officials vote the same way but that's not the point...

I'm anti-terror. I'm sorry if they choose to lie.

4. Here's some info:
"FBI Says It Monitored ACLU, Greenpeace
From Times Wire Reports

July 18, 2005
The FBI has thousands of pages of records in its files relating to the monitoring of civil rights, environmental and similar advocacy groups, the Justice Department said.

The organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union and Greenpeace, are suing for the release of the documents.

The organizations contend that the material will show that they have been subjected to scrutiny by FBI task forces set up to combat terrorism.

The FBI has identified 1,173 pages related to the ACLU and 2,383 pages on Greenpeace, but needs at least until February to process the ACLU files and until June to review the Greenpeace documents, the government said in a filing in U.S. District Court."

5. Is it because the ACLU is after the government for taking
personal info from places just like this. It could also be the non profit status thing again. Just guessing.

17. IT could freeper types for all we know.
who have an arrogant habit of reporting anybody they don't like to the FBI, as though they were terrorists. My guess is when they get the files it'll be crap like this. ACLU is a totally legal organization, it would be retarded for anybody to think otherwise...And their also a big help to those who's civil liberties are threatened or taken away.

Meanwhile, things like this give an important reminder of why its important to support the ACLU. Are you a card carrying member? Click my sig if not!

12. They are investigating the ACLU for what?
for helping people too much?

Shame on them for trying to help people who cannot help themselves. This is not what this administration stands for.

If you cannot help yourself, tuff sh*t, that is their motto:

13. Wasn't There An Audit Of The NAACP?
I thought I had heard last week that the group had just faced an extensive IRS audit and the person I was listening to (I'm pretty sure this was on a Pacifica station) said the group had had constant government harassment for the past 5 years.
