Of course, Bush was going to nominate a lunatic--especially now
because a fight for the court will take the focus off of Rove. Politically it makes sense. Rove and Bush (well, Rove) thinks that if Democrats are spending their time fighting Roberts on the court they will not be spending as much time fighting Rove.

I say, bring it on and take no prisoners--defeat Roberts and put Rove behind bars where he belongs.

2. Wouldn't it just blow the WH's mind if we blew it off and
kept up the heat on Traitorgate? Technically, the nomination won't even hit the Senate floor for another 5 weeks.

You just KNEW that the dick would choose someone like this because of everything that is going on. He is so damned easy to predict.

peace.

3. Fitzpatrick's work is entirely outside of this
Bush can ride a unicycle and spin plates on poles, if he wants, like the really talented chimps on the old Ed Sullivan show, but it wouldn't do anything to detract from the investigation into the treason that has taken place in his office.

All this will do is pi$$ off the rest of the marginal Republicans that are still, despite all of the slime coming out of his office, supporting him. The little monkey did himself no favors tonight, I assure you.

They're desperate. The curtain is ringing down on their short-lived empire. This is a last-ditch effort to go after whatever remaining spoils they can get.

5. I Think We Should Flank Them On This One
Edited on Tue Jul-19-05 07:14 PM by loindelrio
Beating back the Reich-Wing advance will require letting them over-reach. They will be beaten in the same way the Russians beat Napoleon and the Nazi's.

Going all out fighting this nomination will play right into their hands. It isn't like the court is the friend of the little guy now. Let them make more rulings like the recent 'taking' decision, or overturning RvW. They will become irrelevant, carrying all of the weight of one of the Czar's rulings in 1918.

Who will step up and be our Zhukov? Dean? Clark?

6. Maybe you're right
but most people here won't go for that strategy.
