as a Canadian and, as things that happen in the US seem to migrate up here within 20 years, I am VERY interested in the issue of BBV and what Bev et al are doing, cudos to them! They are fighting for more than the US but for those of us that believe in voter verified paper ballots, always!

20. I think what happened...

...is that after the debacle of 2000 these outfits pushed hard for the change without really investigating what they were buying into. They are also the parties behind trying to stall the cali recall vote on the premise that not all counties have these machines.

I have also read here that the ACLU and some other of these organizations have recently gained the services of some more rw people higher up. Sorry that I don't remember names and specifiec but I do remember reading on some BBV threads.

28. There are two lawsuits being reported in LBN

Both not on the main issue, but are good ones.

The first is that the lobbist for Diebold is also the lobbist for SAIC. The second is that Florida election supervisor is sueing because machines available to the handicapped have not been certified even though Diebold promised repeatedly they would be certified.

They will try to claim that they were late because their software was stolen and compromised even though they have publicly declared that the software that was examined was outdated and had never been used in an election! :)

35. ya know what? Diebold was sued by the National Assoc. of the Blind

(I'm pretty sure it was NAB - it's late in the evening..)- to install braille readers in their ATMS a couple years ago. It's more than likely Mr. O'Dell who is now particularly cosy with this group (need to remember if Diebold settled or??)also decided that they are "good for business" on the voting machine side of the company..
