My nephew is now a soldier.
At 11:00am today my honor student nephew was sworn in at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. He wants to be an infantryman. In three years he wants to go to a police academy to fullfill his dream of being a policeman. May God watch over him.

10. Sorry, I am from California
and if you are a resident, and go to a state UC school, or junior college they do everything to help with the costs

I wish him well. It has to be the worst time to go in now, with the people who are in charge now

I spent time at Ft. Ben in the mid-70's as an Air Force Info Specialist and again with a private company right after 9/11. I never failed to salute the base flag! FT. Ben is an honorable place, and I wish him ALL the best!!!

11. my nephew, Jon
is going to Iraq in November. He's in satellite communications. I'm worried sick. He knows I hate this war. I hope your nephew will be okay. It's really hard. My 25 y/o son was discharged from the Army last August. I thank my lucky stars every day that he only had to go the North Korea for a year and not over to Iraq.

13. I wish my nephew would enlist
now hear me out before kicking me. My dad died when I was five and if it were not for social security and other social programs, we would have grown up living on the streets. Because of social programs, two of my brothers are doctors, one is a CPA.

My brother, the pathologist, went to Vietnam. When he left, his goal in life was to become a small town doctor getting paid in chickens and apple pies, but he changed to being an ugly republican. His kids had every luxury they wanted, a private education complete with a little red sports car, and traveled, etc. His son, an arrogant republican, said during a x-mas get-together that he thought they should get rid of all social programs cuz they don't help anyway. I was dumbfounded! This kid has no idea what social programs can do cuz he has never met anyone who was not one of the wealthy people.

Now, enlisting is extreme, but unless he does something so drastic, he will vote for the craziest damn republican that decides to run. He is so arrogant and exhibits no critical thinking skills. He spouts Rush Limbaugh and thinks he is funny and that we think the things he says are unique and insightful.
