Remainder of Abu Ghraib Photos and Videos to be Released Friday...

As part of the ongoing FOIA litigation on behalf of the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights, a whole slew of the unreleased photographs and videos from Abu Ghraib are set to be released on Friday. These are the photographs and videos that were shown to the closed session of Congress, which reportedly include videos and photographs of the rape of detainees, including the rape of a male minor being held at the facility.

This is sure to bring the whole controversy back to the frontpages. It is also seems to be sure to inflame the sentiments against the U.S., and rightfully so. I imagine heads will roll (but hopefully not figuratively).

But it's important to let the light shine in, in my opinion. The outrage and anger will surely be justified, and it's not my place to tell the rest of the world how it should be manifested. But you can bet your ass it's going will manifest. Look out.

1. I wonder what the definition of the word "release" is
Released to the judge? Released to a new round of lawyers so they can spend even more months pushing paper and racking up hours of fees?

I'll believe it when I can look at the pictures on this computer.

5. They should be released to the ACLU
They submitted the FOIA request. But I've heard that it might take a couple more days before the ACLU releases them to the press. The release of the pictures by BushCo will probably be part of a Friday night news dump.

3. Truth is our most powerful weapon!
I type with a heavy heart, however. Friday will truly be a sad day in this country.

Peace.

6. I'll believe it when I see it
It was said for MONTHS that they'd be released by June.

steve2470, I hope this is true, but I'd hedge my bets. :)

I rank this one right up there with Al Gore's liberal TV network, which has been announced here countless times and remains invisible.

Those Abu Ghraib photos have been ready to blow the lid off the world for a very long time now.
