Another shameless tactic coming from the Far Right
You may have not seen it but the Far Right had to prove their manhood to America recently.

The Far Right did not want 1 person to be nominated to the SCOTUS, and that person was Alberto Gonzales.

They have been quoted as saying:

"Bush better not nominate Al"

"It will break our hearts if Bush nominates Al"

"Al scares us"

So, when Al IS NOT nominated the Far Right then says, "Look at us, we are as strong as Ah-nold".

If Bush had nominated a Zygote, the Far Right would still do this victory dance.

Maybe I was wrong about the Far Right taking over America if they have be this obnoxious to assert their power.

1. Instead the evangelicals will have to toot a Catholic's horn
and that won't sit well with them and their holier than thou attitudes about any religion but the born again variety. Dubya's base must be furious.

4. Some may be.
But there's an interesting analysis that was discussed during the winter concerning a re-alignment of religious attitudes.

The claim is the primary contrast is no longer Protestant vs. Catholic, but has shifted to traditionalist vs. innovator. I personally don't think the shift includes everybody; but it's plausible, and accounts for a lot of behavior.

For example, the paeans from conservative/fundamentalist/born-again Xians for the recently deceased Pope, which would otherwise be rather a mystery.
