Question? If Al Gore invented the internet. Why didn't he have it regula |
|
They say that he invented the internet why did he leave it open to idiot right wing sites? He easily could have set up restrictions that would have made it non-partisan or not political at all.
He left it open for freeps and other right wing idiots and now he says he is gonna start a T.V. show that is non-political. Says he is recovering from politics.
Sorry but I am new to politics and the internet and I don't get it. I just heard tonight he was gonna start a TV show that was gonna be non-political.
I have to be at work in 8 hours so I can't stay up to respond. Thank you all in advance for answers and I will read them in the morning at work. Thanks.
Suzi.

3. I think it would be impossible to police the internet to make it "non |
|
partisan" and he didn't really have a say anyone regarding what would and would not be allowed on the internet. Anyway, if you did not allow the right wingers to have their discussions, you could not allow places like DU to exist. I think its better this way, even if it means that there are freeper forums.

9. Gore never said he invented the internet. |

The technical nature of the internet means it is very hard to control.
It is not one thing...but tens upon tens of thousands of individual nodes working as one. One reason it is this way was it was in part initially designed as a system of communication that could not be easily shut down in case of a massive Nuclear attack.
But today it is in danger...the consolidation of cable tv and telecommunication providers who provide broadband access is endangering it. There was no way to control all the independent dial up ISP's - dial-up access is relativly cheap and easy to maintain. Broadband requires expensive and centralized nodes. Whoever controls the access controls the content. As more and more of us go hi-speed, the danger increases. We must be vigilant if we don't want the same thing that happened to the MSM in the 80's and 90's to happen to the Free Speech interent.
