Stand with Joe Wilson
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 06:38 AM by zippy890
This is so important.
I've been thinking a lot about this issue, and how this came about, what its all about
- and its all about holding our leaders accountable, about facing up to the misguided policy to go into Iraq.

Joe Wilson was doing his job, and he could see what was happening in our government. He knew they were heading to Iraq based on lies, and this was wrong, terribly wrong. He told them, but they wouldn't listen, as a person who loves his country, he did an incredibly courageous thing - think about it - who among us would have the courage to do what he did - knowing what he was up against - to speak out to the people, his articles to the newspapers - telling the truth, that Iraq was not buying uranium for WMD.

This was not about politics until those in power made it into politics.(Rove: Wilson's a democrat) and sought to harm him, to retaliate against him, to use insidious means to take him down - and they did, by going after his wife, using the news media.

This is where we, as a country, have to draw the line - to all people, republicans especially, - you must think for yourself here, if you love this country as you say you do - hold your leaders accountable. Huge mistakes were made in the decision to go to Iraq, but at some point, bad judgment crosses over the line to bad conduct which is having huge consequences.

Think about those consequences, they include our children, and their children, and the kind of world they will be living in.

If you love this country, its time to step forward, think for yourself, put politics aside, and stand up next to a fellow citizen who cared enough and was brave enough to speak the truth.

Stand with Joe Wilson, and lets make those in power who have done the wrong things accountable for their actions. If we don't do this, here, now, things will get worse.

I know this sounds a little preachy, but he (Wilson) has inspired me with what he did, reminds me of the early patriots of our country, who dared to speak out against injustices. So many of our political leaders are scared of their own shadow, they do not inspire.

1. Wilson had great courage to stand up as whistleblower against Bushco
Just about everyone else in government circles is too scared of Bush and Cheney's cutthroat Rovian retaliatory tactics to speak out against the lies, corruption and incompetence of this administration.

2. Many, many years ago
I used to box. I remember meeting a wise older gentleman, named Cus D'Amato. He trained some world champions, such as Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres; later he adopted and trained young Mike Tyson; at the time, he had a good middleweight, Eugene "Cyclone" Hart. Anyhow, Cus told us that a hero and a coward feel the same degree of fear. The difference is the hero uses that fear to propel him forward, while a coward uses it as an excuse to shut down. I think that we see this in the national scene, with people such as Wilson, Robert Kennedy, Jr, and Rep. Conyers, who lead forward ..... versus the cowards in the House and Senate who have a "stick in the mud" mind-set.
