Now what - Dems rolling over on Roberts!
The MSM is making it sound like the key Dems can't wait to embrace this guy. Quotes below from http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=2&u=/ap/20050721/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_bush

"This is a credible nominee, and not one that — as far as we know now — has a record that in any sense could be described as extremist," said Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn. Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said Bush had "made a wise choice."

Asked whether a filibuster was likely, Nelson said: "I think it's fair to say I don't see anything coming out right now."

"My sense is so far, so good," summed up Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark.

I feel like this is coming too soon, before we know enough about this fellow. What can we do right now?

1. Well, those are all party moderates, (at least the first two are).
The key thing we need to pressure our lawmakers to do is to ask tough questions and demand answers in the hearings. Judge Roberts is gunning for the highest office in the land, there's nothing wrong with him answering a few questions along the way.

And the questioning process is our beset opportunity to show America what kind of man he is - it's our best chance to get the people behind us, so that if we have to filibuster, they will support us.

2. How about: He has no experience, except as corporate lobbyist?
MoveOn has a drive TODAY to call your senators. Please be sure to mention that this man has TWO, count 'em, TWO years experience as a judge. The rest of his time has been spent as an anti-environment, anti-worker lobbyist and lawyer.

It's easy to not confirm this guy...he has no experience as a judge.

3. Well, this morning both Joe Lieberman
and Ben Nelson (Nebraska) voted for the confirmation of Dorr to become UnderSecretary of Agriculture. The way Senator Harken was talking about Dorr, he sounded like a crook to me.

4. The gang of fourteen decided before Bush even brought the guy out
He's confirmed. any attempt to filibuster will result in nuclear destruction.

He's in like Flynn like I've been saying since it was leaked that he's the guy.

5. What's coming too soon?
Nobody has endorsed him yet. "So far, so good" is about as committal as anyone has gotten so far.

6. Right now, we can all calm down
I'm just not ready to get all upset because the Conservative Corporate Media is disappointed they haven't been able to televise a bloodbath. They expected and were seeking to give credence to the prejudicial idea put out by the Anti-Liberals that "Democrats won't like anyone Bush nominates."

I'm watching Democrats closely, but I don't see evidence they've thrown in the towel. The "prominent" and "moderate" Democrats they've been sourcing haven't exactly been stellar representatives of Liberal causes.

8. We have some time but Republicans are setting the bar and tone
by everyone on the right coming out in the press
saying this is a slam dunk sets the news, tone
and bar. It's good for Dems on the left to keep
repeating that hearings haven't taken place yet
and that information is still being gathered to
make an informed choice.

As long as info keeps coming out about Roberts
in the press, people will question whether we
want someone who goes against what they believe in
for this country and people.

Meanwhile our job is to find the info and inform.
