DU this ESPN (yes, I'm serious) poll.
http://espn.go.com/

Who is the greatest athlete turned politician?

Bill Bradley (Knicks)
Jim Bunning (Tigers, Phillies)
Jack Kemp (Bills)
Steve Largent (Seahawks)
J.C. Watts (Oklahoma)

(And despite my avatar, I can't stand Jack Kemp)

Personally, I would have gobe with Alan Page.

1. Who is Jim Bunnings?
Watts, Largent and Kemp are Repubs, right?

I agree, Alan Page has had two impressive careers.

2. He's a Senator from Kentucky.
Of the four Republicans listed, he's probably the worst -- and that's saying something.

4. Bunning is a Republican Senator from Kentucky
He pitched for the Tigers and Phillies (including a perfect game against the Mets on Fathers Day in 1964). He's in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He's also a right wing loon.

3. Confusing question
Do they mean "Who was the best athlete," or "Who was/is the best politician?"

11. Had a co-worker try to convince me that Gerald Ford
was a Heisman Trophy winner.

Quick trip to a World Almanac proved him wrong. I didn't throw it in his face, though. (Guess he would have reported me as a terrorist for having an almanac) . . .
