1. Never seen that before.
Encouraging the people to pressure Congress for the nominee. Wonder why they won't accept the Senate to do the job that they were elected for? A waste of money I think, but interesting precedent, nonetheless.

2. Was it all text?
I could see an error in shipping off a commercial where it's all text on screen with a voice-over:

Voice over: "President Bush has just nominated John Roberts for the Supreme Court, and already the Democrats are attacking him as being an extremist. ..."

Actual text onscreen: "President Bush has just nominated fill-in-name-here for the " ... you get the idea.

All they needed was the name.

Actually, the commercial-makers probably were aware of it well before Bush was going to announce it so that they could make the "rebuttal" commercials . . .

Harvard Law Grad

"Brilliant"

39 cases before the SCOTUS

BHAH, BLAH, BLAH!

No mention of, "We continue to believe Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided..."

No mention of his wife working as the president of a "feminist Pro-Life" organization (as if such a creature exists!).

No dicussion of the numerous controversial rulings.

Go figure!
