164 counts and months of testimony and the jury can't make a unanimous decision? That is called the jury system, fooj. That is our system in this country.
Seems to me that the prosecution failed to make its case as clearly as was needed. Maybe it was something to do with 164 counts, that could confuse the hell out of anyone. The tactic of throwing mud at the wall (164 counts) and hoping some stick doesn't always work.
So again, I must ask, what is bullshit?

retrial. Maybe the gov will put on a better case next time, maybe one of the defendants is so broke, he can't afford to keep paying his attorney fees and will roll over the next time.
Remember, justice is not always of this world. :hi:
Hope you are well!

13. The jury deliberated for 4 days and came up short of convictions. |
|
It seems to me from that that they at least attempted to be impartial. Who wastes 4 days beating around the bush just to arrive at a predetermined conclusion? Even the best actors would find this difficult.
I'd have to read the court record to see whether the defense was simply good or the prosecution simply weak, or whether the evidence wasn't firm beyond a reasonable doubt. Or maybe the law itself is so poorly written as to be hardly enforcable.
Lots of things could be involved here.
