Springer is thinking Gov in '06, Franken is thinking Senate in '08
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 01:29 PM by Rosco T.
that's two major (time-wise) hunks of the AAR schedule that will have to be 're-filled' (much as I love Katherine, I don't know if she could do a full 3-4 hour show solo)..

Is AAR already planning replacement's??

Who would you want to see?

How about Katherine/Rachel together??
Thom Hartmann?
Stephanie Miller?

What do you thinks sirs?

(edit to correct my temporal error)

4. That would give them time to find someone
I have heard earlier this year that he had a contract he signed for another two years or so that he wanted to committ to. I think 2008 would be a good year for him. And is Springer really thinking of that? That would be good for Ohio.

11. Yeah, that's been reported by someone...
.. that spoke to him 1-on-1. He would be execellent for Ohio. I don't care what people say about Jerry's TV show, he's intelligent, articulate and has tremensous insight on the 'way things work'. Even he says the TV show is crap and makes no beans about making that point known..

14. I'm sure he's a good guy...but
I think Ted Strickland would be a much safer bet for us in Ohio for Governor. Even with what he's said about the show, it would hang over his head most likely. And considering what's going on right now in Ohio with the backlash against Republicans, Strickland makes a lot of sense on a lot of levels and Springer would just be too much of a risk for this opportunity.

2. I thought Franken was thinking '08
That's when Normie Coleman is up.
'06 is Mark Dayton's seat.

7. Thom Hartman defin!!!
And I hope these two people get into government and use thier insider's experience to expose what's wrong with the workings of government. Do a short time, and get back out and fight for fundamental democratic reforms.

8. Katherine/Rachel is good
They rocked on election night. Oh what a sad night that was. The group coverage on AAR was exciting tho.

13. Indeed... AAR has come a LONG WAY in a year... but..
they would have trouble 'selling' Katherine/Rachel in Al's slot.. same for Guy James in Jerry's... those are two of the PRIME AIR-TIME slots and they are gonna need some 'name' to HOLD ON to those slots in their stations...

15. Rush was NEVER a name.
I don't think you should buy into the celebrity obsessed culture notion. Stars can be made. Rush proves this. He's talented.

I'd love Thom Hartmann to get more exposure. He's amazing.

17. That was then, this is now....
noadays you have to have a NAME to get folks to pay even the beginnings of attention and to get the airtime.. don't think that's not why AAR has had a lot of it's success, Franken and Janeane... and Springer was brought in the fold because he had a lot of those time slots on his NAME and they wanted to get the Air America name publicity.

10. How about our fellow
DUer Guy James for one of those slots? He's having trouble with the station in FL now and he has a real good show.

16. No thanks
He just doesn't have the experience or credibility.

Ted Strickland or Mike Coleman are much better choices.
