How do we overcome this obstacle? |
|
Rove bumped DSM off radar, even though they are part of the same issue -- lying to get us into war and shutting up anyone who would reveal the lie.
Now we have this Roberts issue the focus of every action site, etc. etc. etc.
How do we keep attention on something long enough to have a meaningful impact?

1. First two questions of Scottie Mac today were about Turdgate. |
|
I don't see the press letting up on this all that much. It's not going away.

2. Turdgate is still in focus but DSM, DeLay, others have been swept away. |

4. The thing about them is this |

Without new revelations coming out or some new information, it's hard to keep stories going; and the temptation to to switch to the new thing becomes irresistable to our lazy press corps. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

5. At the risk of sounding pollyannaish... |

DeLay has been wounded. Obviously he continues to wield power and operate his Texas Cosa Nostra, but you don't see him being trotted out to announce anything these days.
The DSM, while not the definitive blow to this Administration's credibility that we progressives would've liked, certainly contributed to the Preznit's horrible credibility numbers we're seeing in the polls.
Our Corporate Media is only going to focus on a couple of political stories on any given day. There ain't much good coming from the White House these days; and the noise machine's gone overboard with latest SCOTUS appointment, claming that it's a given that the Dems will filibuster, or be unreasonable, or whatever. (I think that strategy of theirs will backfire--it puts us in a more powerful position than we would've had.)
I guess I don't have high expectations of the media to do an adequate job of keeping important stories in the spotlight. But I do think the press corps smell blood around Rove and they're going to continue to nip at him, and the whole rotten enterprise.
That is, of course, until the next Terra tack here in the states...

6. AAR: ENLARGE it enough that a short issue lifespan is eno 4 us to win |
|

on an issue.
With a louder "megaphone" we can win on an issue in a short time.
to help AAR, do what the Alaska IBEW electrical union
LOCAL
did: buy a station and put AAR on it.
Have local union local's do it, or some other progressive group.
YahooGroups... google that to find homepage, then create a free group for your town for those interested in getting AAR to come to your area. Discuss, network, mingle even at a coffeehouse if poss.
urge AFLCIO and DNC to give grants to AAR. Both are vanishing because they "have no voice". PBS gets grants, why not AAR?? In Italy, last i heard, even every candidate for big office starts his own radio station.
Include AAR in your Will
take out tiny one line ads in the local wine and cheese weekly paper.
flyers
AAR is the very lifeblood of the progressives, since we have no other mass media {that passive types can get. Passive millions will listen , but not type up a DU type source. Term is "push media" vs. "pull media" for DU }.
