or K-Mart or whatever. Ballparks, cycling teams, etc... this cant be far off. Maybe they'll just sponsor the election and not publicly take sides.

20. That's not silly at all.
There are a number of public facilities around the country with Corporate names. Enron Field, remember that one?

Not only that, but our federal government is increasingly run by private corporations. I just switched from an LBN thread about 2500 FAA jobs being outsourced to Lockheed.

Look how much of our military "presence" in Iraq is actually done by private corporations (Halliburton, KBR, DynCorp and many others) -- at no doubt bigger cost and/or poorer quality.

That's one definition of fascism: the convergence of intersts between corporations and government, or as Mussolini put it: Fascism should more properly be called corporatism, since it is the merger of state and corporate power.

a definition:
"fas-cism (fbsh'iz'em) n. A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism."

6. for candidates, this would be an improvement
at least you'd know whose bitch they were.

This candidate brought to you by ExxonMobile, Chevron Texaco, and the people who bring you war.

25. My thought, too.

A candidate brought to the public by Coca Cola would probably be more accountable to the public than the current one brought to us by the Saudi Royal Dictators and the Global Petroleum Corps.

12. Given the fact that the campaign contributions of corporate donors...
matter more to politicians than the will of the constituents, I'd say we're already at this point. They've just managed to maintain a modicum of decency and keep the commercialization out of the process.

15. maye it is not decent, actually
maybe it would be more decent if the candidates drove around in cars that looked like they were from nascar. openly identifying thetir contributers would actually be more decent

21. Might not be good for the corporations to be that visibly connected.
At least in a national campaign. Imagine "This war brought to you by George Bush AND YOUR LOCAL PEPSI COLA BOTTLERS." And if Bush campaigned with a Ford logo on his shirt pocket he'd probably be kissing any significant GM money goodbye.

26. Maybe we can Outsource Our Presidency
Open up the playing field and bring in some fair elections.

Or we can stick sponsorship all over then. At least then we know the truth of their whorish ways first.
