A JAW DROPPER I Found In The Abuse Documents Secured By The ACLU!
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 06:08 PM by DistressedAmerican
I was working on adding content to www.endtheabuses.org today and I was reviewing some of the more than 350.000 pages of material obtained from the government detailing the detainee abuse investigations at Abu Graib, Camp Bucca, Camp X-Ray and GITMO.

There are some AMAZING documents there. They include, among other things, extensive summaries of detainee interviews, The original memos from Richardo Sanchez detailing the interrogation techniques at GITMO, and the Law Of War J.A.G training manuals.

Among all that, this one document really jumped out at me. It is an internal FBI e-mail discussing the impersonation of FBI agents by DOD interrogators at GITMO. These FBI folks are PISSED about this.

Check out this quote:
"These tactics have produced no information of a threat neutralization nature to date and the CITF believes that techniques have destroyed any chance of prosecuting this detainee.

If this detainee is ever released or his story made public in any way, DOD interrogators will not be held accountable because these torture techniques were done (by) the "FBI" interrogators. The FBI will (be) left be left holding the bag before the public."

This is amazing stuff.

The DOD is impersonating FBI, the interrogations are not producing any useful information, They have destroyed any chance of prosecuting the detainee in question AND in this 2003 document it openly discusses "TORTURE TECHNIQUES" as GITMO.

Allegations of detainee abuse at that facility have been consistently denied by the DOD. Well DOD, The FBI begs to differ!

For more on these docs, take a look at:
http://www.endtheabuses.org/Documents.htm

The full selection of these docs that the government does not want you to see can be found here: http://action.aclu.org/torturefoia/

Am I the only one that that is completely jaw dropped by this information? It seems like a MAJOR revelation to me!

Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 06:15 PM by TahitiNut
The 'freedom' to lie.
The 'freedom' to cheat.
The 'freedom' to invade.
The 'freedom' to torture.
The 'freedom' to imprison without due process.
The 'freedom' to search without warrant.
The 'freedom' to murder thousands.
The 'freedom' to plunder for private enrichment.

Yeah ... they're hated for their 'freedoms' ... and I'm one of the 'haters'!!!

9. i hate to be the naysayer...
but this was posted here and possibly glazed over in the MSM a while back. without a doubt, my uncle (a ret. FBI agent) and many others would rightfully be enraged at this, but again, this is something that has been 'lightly' covered, and falls under the "been there, done that" modicum of the MSM and whatnot.

I do hope with the Rove-crap that is coming down the line, this gets brought up again. If for no other reason to clear the name of persons who have done the right thing and see this for the sham government it truly is.

24. We'll See About That! I'll Do Everything I Can To Shove This Info
in to the public. I will make it a presonal mission to contact politicians, and reporters (not media outlets, Reporters).

When I combine it with some of the other shocking info I am reading in these docs in a large well documented compilation, people will care.

With the new abuse photos and vids out soon, The media will be looking for a new angle to adress the issue. I'll give it to them

Stop waiting for the MSM to do the work. They won't. It will require grass roots mobilization and we are already off to a great start on that.

At the minimum there are plenty of alternative outlets that would find this a very juicy tidbit.

Be empowered.

11. The crimes and abuses of this adminstration are beyond all reason.
It's impossible to rationally hypothesize the full extent of their criminality and corruption. This, after all, is their greatest advantage: everyday Americans just can't accept the idea that they're living under a sociopathic fascist regime.

Few people know of, let alone comprehend the implications of, the Stanford Jail Experiment or Stanley Milgram's experiments ... even on DU. (Perhaps our local myopia should be called DUnial instead of denial?)

For all the reasons you point out, and also this:

21. This made the news a while back, but only...
... very, very briefly, maybe around April or May.

As I recall, there's some evidence that this impersonation of the FBI was also done at some times when there were visiting Congress critters to make it seem that the FBI was extracting good information from the detainees, and to impress the critters that everything at Gitmo was on the up-and-up. There was the suggestion in some of the FBI email that, when there were Congressional visitors, that some of the more compliant detainees were rehearsed by DoD personnel to make it appear to the visitors that the techniques were working well.

Cheers.

46. HERE IS A CLEANER WRITE-UP FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN DISTRIBUTING

DOD Interrogators Impersonate The FBI

FBI e-mail confirms that DOD interrogators at GITMO utilized "torture techniques" on detainees while impersonating FBI personnel

http://www.endtheabuses.org/DOD-FBI-GITMO.htm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The American Civil Liberties Union's ongoing legal efforts have forced various branches of the federal governement to produce more than 350,000 pages of documentation of prisoner abuse at facilities such as Abu Graib, Camp Bucca, Camp X-Ray and GITMO.

These documents include, among other things, extensive summaries of detainee interviews, The original memos from Richardo Sanchez detailing the interrogation techniques at GITMO, and the Law Of War J.A.G training manuals.

Among all that, this one document really jumped out at me.

It is an internal FBI e-mail discussing the impersonation of FBI agents by DOD interrogators at GITMO:

"These tactics have produced no information of a threat neutralization nature to date and the CITF believes that techniques have destroyed any chance of prosecuting this detainee.

If this detainee is ever released or his story made public in any way, DOD interrogators will not be held accountable because these torture techniques were done (by) the "FBI" interrogators. The FBI will (be) left be left holding the bag before the public."

So, this e-mail seems to confirm that the DOD is impersonating FBI personnel, the interrogations are not producing any useful information, their methods have destroyed any chance of prosecuting the detainee in question AND in this 2003 document it openly discusses "TORTURE TECHNIQUES" as GITMO.

Allegations of detainee abuse at that facility have been consistently denied by the DOD. Well DOD, The FBI begs to differ!

48. Here is the message I sent out:
FBI email busts Dept. of Defense for torture at Gitmo

Here's an FBI email making an official complaint that Department of Defense interrogators are using TORTURE TECHNIQUES on detainees at Guantanamo while FALSELY IMPERSONATING FBI agents which has ruined any chance of prosecuting the detainees and also miserably failed at gathering any relevant information. Here's an excerpt:

"These tactics have produced no information of a threat neutralization nature to date and the CITF believes that techniques have destroyed any chance of prosecuting this detainee.

If this detainee is ever released or his story made public in any way, DOD interrogators will not be held accountable because these torture techniques were done (by) the "FBI" interrogators. The FBI will (be) left be left holding the bag before the public."

The people held without charge at Gitmo include people who HAVE ALREADY BEEN CLEARED OF DOING ANYTHING WRONG (<http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/paperchase/2005/06/cleared-guantanamo-detainees-still.php>), CHILDREN (<http://www.guardian.co.uk/afghanistan/story/0,1284,942347,00.html>), and SENILE OLD MEN (<http://writ.news.findlaw.com/mariner/20021104.html>]).
