When will we have a national conversation to confront the reasons why Islamic terrorists exist and what we can do to actually rid ourselves of the problem?
All this "they hate us for our freedom" gibberish isn't helping. It also does not help that we have no coherent strategy for the "war on terrorism," let alone a consensus around such a strategy.
Shouldn't we, eventually, assess the actual threat as it really is and unite behind a strategy? Shouldn't our leaders be working on developing such a strategy and building a consensus around it -- based on an honest assessment of the threat and the motivations of the enemy?
HELLO?

The problem is, anyone who doesn't parrot the party line is attacked as hating America and being an apologist for the terrorists.

Some day I might do that. Don't have the guts for now. But if I ever need a good lawyer while in Houston, I know where to go!

if "they hate us for our freedom" then by rescinding our freedoms, they will no longer hate us.

Osama bin Laden wants to set up a 14-century Islamist regime in the Middle East and we are in the way. That is why he wants to destroy us. It ain't because he's angry that about our free press and casual Fridays.
