Heads up - Bloomberg story just posted on Plame
My, my, my.

Rove, Libby Accounts in CIA Case Differ With Those of Reporters

By Richard Keil

July 22 (Bloomberg) — Two top White House aides have given
accounts to the special prosecutor about how reporters told them
the identity of a CIA agent that are at odds with what the
reporters have said, according to persons familiar with the case.

Lewis “Scooter'’ Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief
of staff, told special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald that he first
learned from NBC News reporter Tim Russert of the identity of CIA
agent Valerie Plame, the wife of former ambassador and Bush
administration critic Joseph Wilson. Russert has testified before
a federal grand jury that he didn’t tell Libby of Plame’s
identity.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove told Fitzgerald that he first learned the identity of the CIA agent from syndicated columnist Robert Novak, who was first to report Plame’s name and connection to Wilson. Novak, according to a source familiar with the matter, has given a somewhat different version to the special prosecutor.

These discrepancies may be important because one issue Fitzgerald is investigating is whether Libby, Rove, or other administration officials made false statements during the course of the investigation. The Plame case has its genesis in whether any administration officials violated a 1982 law making it illegal to knowingly reveal the name of a CIA agent.

9. Ain't it grand?
Judith Miller who passed on the LIES from the Bush Admin about WMD via the New York Times is sitting in jail.

And Scooter Libby tried to blame Tim Russert for spreading Valerie Plame's name about.

All their little complicit media people are being taken down too, or at least tainted by this big time!

Too good.

15. heh...
They probably figured lil' Timmy would take the fall for them and quietly go to jail like Miller.

Interesting how many of these "journalists" have covered this story without disclosing their own involvement in it, i.e. Russert, Matthews etc.

Lil' Timmy Russert getting screwed by the very Administration that he panders to so much.

Scooter Libby trying to blame lil' Timmy, who has always been such a good little softball thrower for the Bush Admin.

Oh that's too rich.

12. "The Plot Against The Wilsons"
Wanna know why they want to discredit Joe Wilson so bad...there you have it.

This hasn't been a case about the outting of Plame as much as the cover-up of who leaked for a long time. In retrospect, when those subpoenas to the reporters last year should have been a tip-off that the focus was expanding.

The wingnuts have tried with all their might to turn Wilson into every evil they can. They've tried to distort Plame's CIA status. They've attempted to spin tons of plausible deniablilty cause they know deep down inside this is not a good thing...in fact this, and the Wilson affair, could be a very, very bad thing. Just like little kids they're attacking everything...throwing whatever they can to slime or hope something will stick...desperately.

Listening to Isakoff (Newsweek for asshole) put Hannity in his place and the feeble, laughable crumbling defenses of a Rich Galen on CNNServative today, we're starting to see some exhausting setting on on the right wing pie holes. They're not done spinning or sliming by any stretch...just the absurdity of their rhetoric.

We're gonna need a lot of  around here in the months ahead.

Cheers...

Geez, no way would Cheney choose someone unless he had a bottomless capacity to lie, cheat and steal.

16. What a tangled web....Rove claimed he couldn't have leaked Plame's name
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 12:17 AM by Garbo 2004
because he didn't know it. This as late as right before Cooper testified. Granted, Rove didn't give Cooper her name. But supposedly Rove's (and his attorney's) statements made it appear that he didn't know her name to give anyone, including Cooper.

Now the story is he learned it from Novak. Rove reportedly spoke to Novak on July 8, 2003. He spoke to Cooper on the 11th. So, according to that timeline and Rove's grand jury testimony as reported, Rove did indeed know her name when he spoke to Cooper on the 11th and anyone else after the 8th.

From WaPo July 11, 2005 re: Rove being Cooper's source:

...Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin, has said that Special Prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald has told him that Rove is not a target of the probe. Luskin said yesterday that Rove did not know Plame's name and was not actively trying to push the information into the public realm.

Instead, Luskin said, Rove discussed the matter -- under the cloak of secrecy -- with Cooper at the tail end of a conversation about a different issue. Cooper had called Rove to discuss other matters on a Friday before deadline, and the topic of Wilson came up briefly. Luskin said Cooper raised the question. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/10/AR2005071001000.html

(Of course, Cooper testified he doesn't recall that they discussed anything but Wilson and his wife, but that's just another point counter to Rove's/Luskin's story.)

From the Bloomberg article: "Robert Luskin, Rove’s attorney, said today that Rove did tell the grand jury 'he had not heard her name before he heard it from Bob Novak.' He declined in an interview to comment on whether Novak’s account of their conversation differed from Rove’s." http://thinkprogress.org/2005/07/21/breaking-bloomberg-reporting-that-rove-libby-may-be-subject-to-perjury-charges/

Now if anyone believes Rove, known as a "detail" man didn't make it a point to know Wilson's wife's name long before he went chatty with the press, well.... But even the cover story they were pushing that Rove didn't know Plame's name when he spoke with Cooper on the 11th doesn't hold up since now they're saying Rove heard her name from Novak on the 8th.

17. So Novak did testify. These people are psychopaths, all of them.

Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of Psychopaths Among Us
Robert Hare, in his 1993 book says: "Psychopaths are social predators who charm, manipulate, and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations, and empty wallets."

"Completely lacking in conscience and feelings for others, they selfishly take what they want and do as they please, violating social norms and expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret."

"He will choose you, disarm you with his words, and control you with this presence. He will delight you with his wit and his plans. He will show you a good time, but you will always get the bill. He will smile and deceive you, and he will scare you with his eyes. And when he is through with you, and he will be through with you, he will desert you and take with him your innocence and your pride. You will be left much sadder but not a lot wiser, and for a long time you will wonder what happened and what you did wrong. And if another of his kind comes knocking at your door, will you open it?"
