Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 07:34 PM by section321
I just saw that we're running low on power in Cali. Didn't we blame this on the governor last time? Must be the govinator's fault this time, right?

:-)

5. The GOP doesn't care.
They would rather let all of the poor people that can't afford AC die so they don't have to deal with them anymore.

3. Only if it's a Democratic governor.
Same assignment of responsibility as is used for Presidents.

Ah, the sheeple!

4. I always thought it was the governors fault.
That's what I was told last time anyway.
Can we recall him yet?

6. I thought Ahnolds said he'd get us more federal dollars from Bush
because he was a Republican too. Looks like Bush is shafting his fellow R's in CA, a huge donor state. Oh well.

8. Subject: Sho 'nuff yes it's true; even me, and I'm a cheapskate
Failure to deal with the power issue is what allowed nazi-boy to muscle his way into power.

As a recap: in the brief time that Republicans controlled the legislature in the mid-90s, they rammed through energy deregulation. When Enron and its friends decided to use California as a cash cow, they shut down power plants and jacked up prices. Caught in a squeeze play, Davis agreed to pay usury rates for electricity just to lock in prices and keep it from being more of a disaster.

Flash forward to the recall. Had Arnie entered earlier, the dirt of his personal and professional life would have come out well before the election and he wouldn't have been elected. Had his collusion with Ken Lay (personally, no less) been made public, there would have been even less chance.

Effectively, the Republicans did this: "he didn't protect you from nasty forces, therefore you need us". The reality is that the Republicans WERE (and, of course, ARE) the nasty forces. It's akin to a man bringing suit against his wife for not protecting their child from his abuse; the award is to give the abuser custody.

Does that make sense to you? It doesn't to me, yet many idiot intellectuals were caught up with the "dismay" about Davis at the time. It's another sad instance of candy-ass Caspar Milquetoasts being in love with people who exude power. Spineless people often worship the powerful, and this is the only excuse for Schwarzenegger's appeal: dewy-eyed submissive worship of the powerful. He loves this, and more people would choose to debase themselves than most of us would like to admit.

Deregulation benefits the rich; if you don't get this, you don't get much.

10. Well, we already had one rolling brownout today....
And it completely screwed up our air conditioner, which you'd better be running in 105 degree heat.

We had to go out and play with breakers, and reset our A/C to get it to work again. And it's set at 82, for fuck's sake!

Fucking SoCal Edison. Fucking Enron. Fucking deregulation. And the worst part is, no matter what happens to the California energy market, we're all fucked.

So, Fuck You, California Repukes. Fuck You Enron. And Fuck You, Governator.

Why yes, it IS hot today, why do you ask? :sarcasm:

12. I got no A/C, but have 6 fans going and all that's blowin is hot air.
Have taken 4 showers, washed 2 dogs so they wouldn't die, and am thinking tomorrow I'm gonna get a little kiddie pool (I'm 62), fill it with water and me and the dogs are gonna sit in it all day long. It's really hot out here, but thank God I left Texas because if it was this hot with that humidity, we really would die.

11. Yeah, Davis got blamed, but Wilson signed the deal that made it possible
(de-regulation set up the energy market scam). Still wish Wilson had been held accountable for that....this latest alert, I don't know...we're having 110 degree weather across a lot of my county in CA. Looks like it's a short term heads up.
