Jon Stewart needs a radio show
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 10:33 PM by pstans
O'Reilly has a radio show, Hannity has one. Heck, Colmes even has one.

Jon Stewart needs a radio show. After hearing Stewart go head to head and beat down Bernard Goldberg last week and talking with RFK Jr last night and Fareed Zakari of Newsweek tonight, Stewart knows his stuff. He would have a funny and very informitive radio show.

Maybe when Franken quits his show to run for Senate, Stewart can take his time slot for AAR.

What do you think?

5. That would be like saying Springer can't be good on radio
That would be like saying Springer can't be good on radio because he doesn't have his freakshow on the air with him. Springer's radio show is different than the TV show and Stewart's radio show would have to be different. It would be less comedy and more intellectual (though his comedy is pretty intellectual). He would interview more guests and discuss the topics more in depth.

8. Springer is a pretty unique case
in that his show is utterly different. To see an example of someone who was great in radio and a disaster on TV you only need to see Rush. Stewart may do well on radio, but I have my doubts. He appears, at least to me, to be very visual in his comedy and even his interviewing style. I think we would be much further ahead to have a proven radio talent such as Rhodes or Shultz. Incidently I don't like Rhodes much but those who do like her like her a lot. She clearly has a large and devoted following.

2. I like looking at him.
:D

The Daily Show should be expanded to an hour.

It should be expanded to a WHOLE NETWORK!

3. I like the idea, but I don't know if Jon would.
Jon has a much bigger show than those other idiots, and I think it must take a lot of time to put together. Do you really think he would want to spend even more time each day prepping for a radio show?

6. Only if he also keeps the TV show.
I like his voice, too, but that face ... so cute.

He did beat down Goldberg last week, didn't he? It was a thing of beauty. He didn't raise his voice or anything -- just calmly showed the dude how stupid he is.

7. I think he's too busy. He has a new deal with Viacom to develop shows
for Comedy Central and other of their networks, and his production company is working on that.

10. Give someone else a chance.
I'm sure he'd decline anyway. He's busy, and wouldn't want the burden of providing excellence on another medium. I'm sure it would be great, but it's a major undertaking.

11. I would love to turn on my desk clock and....
listen to somebody besides Rush Limbaugh or a Rush Limbaugh wannabe. Can you imagine just turning your AM dial and getting a LIBERAL talk show? I know that people in big cities can do this with local programming, but where's OUR Rush Limbaugh? Just the fact that this seems so unlikely makes me realize how solidly conservative the MSM really is.

14. So what you're saying is...
I have to either go online or pay for a satellite service to listen to a liberal talk show host. I think I've proven my point here.

16. There are places, few places, that have on-air Liberal shows.
Such as our very own Guy James in the Ft. Myers area. Or Randi Rhodes in WPB.

Of course there is Bernie Ward too, I think he's in Chicago.

But yes the selection is limited and if you want it 24/7 the only way is Air America it seems.

15. He did NOT "beat down" Bernard! However I agree he should have a show.
There have been scores of great Daily Show interviews and episodes but I just don't get the praise heaped on to the Bernie Goldmember interview.

It was tame and no ass-kicking happened. Of course Bernie came off as a loon but hey, he ALWAYS comes off as a loon.
