Scooter Libby is his plausible deniability. Scooter will say it was all his idea, because he, like the others, knows there's a pardon waiting. He won't spend a day in jail, and there are three or four think tanks that will hire him, so he'll never suffer for lack of spending money.

No matter what else happens, none of these people will be doing any hard time--much as everyone wants a little justice in this matter, it will take a couple of years for these cases to work through the system. By that time, Dubya will be a short-timer, so pardons will be forthcoming because he himself can't suffer politically for it (although it will make Republicans look bad, the voters' memories are short).

If there's any question about that scenario, look at how many pardoned felons are working for Bush now.... *sigh*
