or a good thing? ...this relationship between the Clinton and the elder Bushies? I love it. I can feel the heat coming from Washington and all corners Freepish. Hell I hope he spends July in Crawford at the ranch. Bill Clinton is the son they never had.

but I can do without the * and evangelical christian bootlicking. Fine, but did he mention anything about this sleazy scandal currently threatening our democracy? Somehow I don't think so.

6. It's bad style to ask a former president to comment on the situation |
|
of the current president.
Remember all of the news reports and Clinton bashing after he mentioned that Bush took too long to respond to the tsunami?

This is an evil administration. All "rules" are off as far as I'm concerned. We're far past the etiquette stage.

14. There's an inherant problem with stooping to their level and start |
|
badmouthing republicans.
First of all, most of the "normal" republicans don't see the difference between themselves and the current administration's neocons. They see the attack statements that we make as purely rhetoric and completely false.
Secondly, the more we badmouth, the bigger the divide will be come between the left and the right. Basically, if we start a war with them, neither side will win, and we'll create a political version of our situation in Iraq.
Anyways, just my opinion... I think we need more people like Clinton who can hook republicans into listening to him and persuade them.
As the saying goes, "Democracy is the art of letting other people get your way".

16. He can criticize in a respectful and dignified manner |
|
It is possible, and he has the verbal skills to do so. No one is asking him to go off the deep end. He's not winning anyone over to our side. No one. First of all, to win anyone to our side, he would have to at least hint that there is something wrong with what the current administration is doing. He won't even do that. So no one will be "won over". It's not possible.

12. PUBLICLY, you can forget Clinton actively criticizing the Bush Admin. |
|
it's not going to happen.
Now what he says privately is probably another matter altogether.

18. Look...I don't agree with him on Iraq... |
|
But I respect his opinion because I know it is what he believes...and he was not uncritical...he noted that he would have given the inspectors more time and would have concentrated on Afghanisatn and bin Laden. Just because someone disagrees with us does not mean he is evil, or has selfish motives.
In my mind, Bill Clinton has more than earned my respect, even when I don't agree with what he says.
