'Raging Grannies' want to enlist, go to Iraq
Friday, July 22, 2005; Posted: 1:35 p.m. EDT (17:35 GMT)

TUCSON, Arizona (AP) -- A group of anti-war senior citizens calling themselves the "Tucson Raging Grannies" say they want to enlist in the U.S. Army and go to Iraq so that their children and grandchildren can come home.

Five members of the group -- which is associated with the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom -- are due in court Monday to face trespassing charges after trying to enlist at a military recruitment center last week.

The group has protested every week for the last three years outside the recruitment center.

"We went in asking to be sent to Iraq so our kids and grandchildren can be sent home, but rather than listening to us, they called the police," said 74-year-old Betty Schroeder. "It was their place to tell us the qualifications, but they wouldn't even speak to us. They should've said, `You're too old."'

2. 74? - I thought the age limit was 55 - if they were Repubs
they would lie about their ages.
Then again, if they were Repubs, they probably wouldn't enlist

3. My role models....
I fully intend to be completely outrageous at that age. Working out and eating healthy so I'll have plenty of energy to be a pain in the a$$ to everyone who deserves it.

6. They are women of an indeterminate age. They have been
terrorizing us in the South for years. They will have their say, and don't interrupt.

4. I think this wont happen but it quite beautiful.
Its litrtle old ladies telling Bush and all the dumbfucks here in Az, that they would rather go fight and die in a war than have their children and grandchildren. Sounds pretty fucking noble to me and hopefully it points out the level of how wrong this war is to even a few people.

Hell, Im going to be a raging grannie in about 50 years, hopefully wearing a purple hat :)

5. They got arrested for trying to enlist?
That must be why all the Freepers won't sign up. Afraid of being arrested. Yeah, that's it.
