WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Faced with major recruiting problems sparked by troop deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Pentagon has asked Congress to raise the maximum age for U.S. military enlistees from 35 to 42 years old.

The request, sent to lawmakers this week, would apply to all active duty branches of the military services, said Air Force Lt. Col. Ellen Krenke, a Pentagon spokeswoman, Friday. But it is aimed chiefly at the active duty Army, which has fallen far short of recruiting goals this year, by adding millions of potential enlistees.

I'm a radical liberal. I spent 24 years in uniform supporting and defending the constitution. One tour in a combat zone. I piss on and off conservatives every chance I get. We have chickenhawk civilians "leading" our military. I live in South Mississippi. I see the flag wavers every day. I don't want them in uniform fucking up our armed services.

However, if they insist on displaying their patriotism in a real way, they can hire on at halliburton and drive a truck through the highways and byways of the iraqi desert.

elegible for the draft at 42, then i'd feel all tight assed and have

I would only go to their army, if i could wear my own uniform. Then i'd
