I am reading a couple of blogs from service members in Iraq. They refer to the local inhabitants as "hodgies" I think this is in reference to the character of Hadji on Johnny Quest. It is also an Arabic term of respect for someone who has made the pilgrimage to Mecca. One of the tenets of Islam. Reading this shit, has turned my stomach. Read it and tell me we aren't in the Middle East on a modern crusade. At any rate, I don't think the American troops like the "Hodgies" very much:

I hate war. It should be avoided except for the most extreme circumstances because just as these soldiers are dehumanizing their enemies, we are dehumanizing the young men and women who serve in the armed forces. There should be a damned good reason for doing this.
