If you read the first link there is a Democratic representative who says (about our situation) "On the other hand, people voted for them," Bauer said. "You reap what you sow." Why this comment is so egregious will be explained below. It reminded me of that scene from the Mel Brooks movie "History of the World, Part 1" Count De Money is telling the King...""Your highness, the peasants are revolting." and the King says...""You said it. They stink on ice!"

This was a Democratic congressman that said this about a town that is 90% Democratic voters. Needless to say, we are pissed off.

I have been holding off talking about this for a while but I'm going to tell you guys about a local battle to reclaim the government of Roseland, Indiana.

About 2 years ago the town council of my fair city tried to screw the citizens by accepting a "deal" from the South Bend Water works to have everyone in the city hooked up to their water and sewage service...for the low, low price of $10,000 per home. Now the citizens of Roseland are mostly poor and on fixed incomes so there was a large outcry from the populace. It was so great that the town council president resigned, unfortunately the problems didn't end there.

During the battle over the water/sewage hookups a couple of the most vocal and eloquent citizens began to voice their desire to run for the town council. Having attended those meetings myself I was familiar with these two and grown endeared to them for their fiery support of our cause. So when they asked me for my support I gladly lent it to them.

Election day came and they won handily and all the townsfolk rejoiced...but it was a short lived victory.

It turned out that these two people, Dorothy Paul and David Snyder, were two of the biggest snakes in the grass that anyone had ever seen.

Shortly after getting on the board they began to use their position to benefit themselves financially. David is a real-estate broke and used his influence on the board to kill a project where Hilton Hotels was going to build a $10,000,000 dollar hotel in our town in favor of a Holiday Inn Express. The company managing the Holiday Inn Express has told state authorities investigating this that David received monetary compensation for his work. This is a clear case of conflict of interest but it is just the beginning of their crimes.

What the people of Roseland didn't know is that David and Dorothy were dating at the time they were running for office. Immediately after they were sworn in they got married. On a town council that only has 3 officers they now had a quorum. They went straight from benevolent town councilpersons to fascist dictators in 0 days.

They even went so far as to remove the town council president from his position and voted Dorothy as the town council president and forged signatures of other town officials when those officials refused to give them authorization to do what they wanted to do.

There is now way for us to impeach or recall them as Indiana has no laws providing remedy that way.
The best we can hope for now is for them to be convicted on one of the many felonies they are being investigated for.

2. maybe you should run them out of town
If what you have accused these people of is true, then maybe you can get local police to harrass them, you can send threatening letters, destroy their property, make them afraid to even live in your town.

drastic situations call for drastic measures, and some times doing the right thing means doing some things that otherwise would seem wrong.

4. The local police...
are employees of the town council. They all hate what is going on and have said so to us. They have even called the state police...the state police said..."don't get involved" but if the local police don't obey the concil they get fired.
