...$17.2 million too late.

Here is the truth from county documents about the voting machine purchase:

Fact No. 1: Broward commissioners bought an untested touch-screen machine system that ended up costing millions more to operate than ever expected.

Fact No. 2: Broward commissioners bought the system from Election Systems & Software despite the fact that the company's 15-inch screens were not approved for use by the state at the time. Commissioners bent over backward for ES&S, amending the contract to give the company extra time to get state approval for the screens.

Fact No. 3: ES&S was not the low bidder. Global Election Systems' bid was $1.3 million less.

Fact No. 4: Supervisor of Elections Miriam Oliphant wanted a system built by a third company, Sequoia Voting Systems.

5. It's just absolutely stunning
That we just stood by and let this happen. We stood by and watched them trot these vote stealing machines out manufactured by one right wing company after another.

Were we just so shocked by selection 2000 that we weren't paying attention? How did they slip this garbage in under our noses?

6. Smoke and Mirrors
Watch the hanging chads, anything but paper, now we have a new system but we're not making too much noise about it.

Do you remember as big a push in the media about the new machines as the stories about the chads?

7. Jeb's first choice for Lt. Gov
and former Secretary of State, Sandra (unethical) Mortham was the lobbyist who pushed and profited from ES$S's systems, that Broward County ended up buying.
