Acceptable compromise for not releasing the photos today?
Appoint an independant non-partisan committee to describe the photos accurately...ie....2 American soldiers sodomizing 13 year old child while stroking each other, etc. and then have the slimy POS-POTUS stand before the nation and read the descriptions to the American people.
I believe a picture is worth a thousand words...but by God if they won't show the fucking pictures then I want a thousand words!

1. I think that would be a great idea. How many
pics are there - you could have 3 podiums and make Rummy, Cheney and Bush read them. If they really did that, bet it would excite Cheney so much that he'd stroke out on national TV.

3. I agree but
pigs will fly before those pictures see the light of day.
If the best I can do is have this slimy administration acknowledge the acts during prime time--interrupt American Idol or Nascar if you have to--then I would settle for that.

4. No. Emotions rule, not intellect. Not acceptable compromise. No.
We like to think we are intellectual creatures, we humans but we are NOT. That is one reason the bastards are in power today, because they know how to (and do) manipulate people's emotions.

Verbal description is NOT acceptable compromise for seeing the pictures, for feeling that "hit in the gut" feeling that will happen, for feeling nauseated and sickened. There is no way words can do this. Pictures are needed. Yes, people will get pissed and people will be hurt but the reason will be that the administration continues to lie and deceive and NOT take responsibility for these abuses. THAT is what the problem is.

5. I'd take that
Provided Will Pitt gets to write the thousand words. I'd prefer it, actually. The little POS having to verbalize what he's ordered done. People having to listen to their Little God report every horrifying detail. Sounds like a small piece of justice to me.

6. The order was to release them. That's why we have the FOIA.

Of course the government doesn't want to release them, that's why they went to court in the first place... They fought it, and they lost, and then they were supposed to be "redacting" the photos to make faces not identifiable.

Then, at the last minute, they come out with - "Oh. We aren't releasing them because we don't want to release them".

The Chutzpah, as someone else noted, is mind-boggling.

8. I've had serious doubts all along.
Silly me, though, I thought the FOIA was still the law of the land, and a court order still means what it says.

The more they pull these shennanigans, however, the more sure I am that whatever is contained there is pretty evil.
