Yes, Hitler really wrote this:
"The magnitude of a lie always contains a certain factor of credibility, since the great masses of the people in the very bottom of their heards tend to be corrupted rather than consciously and purposely evil, and that, therefore, in view of the primitive simplicity of their minds, they more easily fall a victim to a big lie than to a little one, since they themselves lie in little things, but would be shamed of lies that were too big. Such a falsehood will never enter their heads, and they will not be able to believe in the possibility of such monstrous effrontery and infamous misrepresentations in others; yes, even when enlightened on the subject, they will long doubt and waver, and continue to accept at least one of these causes as true.
Therefore, something of the most insolent lie will always remain and stick."
HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT THAN WHAT KARL ROVE HAS BEEN DOING?!

"The general voice from north to south... calls for a bill of rights. It seems pretty generally understood that this should go to juries, habeas corpus, standing armies, printing, religion and monopolies. I conceive there may be difficulty in finding general modifications of these suited to the habits of all the States. But if such cannot be found, then it is better to establish trials by jury, the right of habeas corpus, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion, in all cases, and to abolish standing armies in time of peace, and monopolies in all cases, than not to do it in any. The few cases wherein these things may do evil cannot be weighed against the multitude wherein the want of them will do evil."
--Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1788.

I keep a text file full of quotes I like, and this is one of them. I believe I got this from the title mentioned in the subject. It has a note that reads "TJP&G, ME" which would stand for the memorial edition of this book, which is buried somewhere in my shelves.
