Do you think people will wake up in time for us to when the 2006 elections
or do you think that the sheeple will just ignore all this mess like they have seemed to do so far?

1. The Repubs will just turn on the Noise Machine...
Maybe even bring the Swiftboat Vets back ? And amidst the confusion, they will more than hold their own. I'm not real optimistic about the '06 elections, frankly.

2. I think the Dems are going to take it back in '06
All they have to do is stand up for what they believe in and fight like hell.

4. I'm hoping that a new strand will emerge before then
with a Howard Dean 'tell it how it is' strategy. I think that if the Dems do that they can win. If not.....no.

5. In order for us to win in 2006 we'll need a paper trail at the voting
booth.

8. Wouldn't do a bit of good
The 2004 election was stolen before the votes were even cast. A paper trail will mean nothing. It will just give the Republicans something else to cheat on. When the paper and the electronics disagree, they will go to court and get whichever count favors them declared the legal one, and the other will be thrown out. We've had a paper trail our whole history, and it hasn't stopped anyone from cheating yet.

There's no magic wand to solve the vote rigging. We need an independent body to monitor everything.

11. how about dragging the UN in to conduct the entire election?
I'm sure that would go over like a wet blanket, but if it's not even plausible to conduct the election ourselves, what other choices are there?

6. A more important question
is whether they will wake up in time to prevent the collapse of the nation. No energy policy, insurmountable debt, and the enmity of the world are threatening to do us in.

7. I would like to believe the tide is turning
But, let's not forget the voting machines. It doesn't seem like much is being done about them and most of the past 3 elections have been whitewashed over. So, I guess in conclusion, our best options will be to tear apart this administration as best we can and reveal the corruption. Otherwise, our chances are 51-49 forever.

9. How do I love thee, 2006? Let me count the ways...
DeLay, Reed, Rove, Fletcher, Libby, Perdue, Scanlon, Ney, Abrahamoff... The list will grow, I'm sure.

If 2006 isn't a good year for the Democratic Party, there won't be one this century.

This is our mantra for the next 12 months...
Integrity. Honesty. Morality. Ethics. Responsibility. Accountability.
Rinse, lather, and repeat.

I can hear the sounds of '06 already...

"Jobs for America, and not for China!"
"Health care for every American!"
"Strengthen Social Security!"

How sweet it sounds!

10. unless the Iranian Oil Bourse can be delayed past the election
I'm far from convinced we'll make it through 2006 without a second large false flag attack, large-scale strike vs. Iran, and retaliation from a broad coalition of countries.

The real answer to the petrodollar crisis is that we need to somehow restore goodwill, join up with the EU and/or SCO, and play the currency-merging game to avoid the dollar going the way of the Turkish lira or Mexican peso. And that's not going to happen with the Shrub in office, and may no longer be feasible regardless of numerous forms of "atonement."
