My mother just came back from France |
|
And she said while she was there there were several Terror scares including one at a museum she was at concerning a mysterious package. The whole place was evacutated. Anyone remember reading about this? French terror scares not newsworthy?

not really worth reporting on every single terror scare. It's a judgment call. You can make the case that if they are reported, then more will follow. I hope your Mom had a nice trip.

I lived in France until recently and they take the threat of terrorism very seriously. If someone has left a bag or something on the street, it's reason enough for the police to cordon off the area and have the bomb squad check out the bag.

5. Scares aren't newsworthy, on the whole |
|
especially in any country apart from your own. Probably the only scare talked about on Friday on DU was the bomb threat called into the East London Mosque - and that was because it followed hard on the heels of the Stockwell shooting (and was originally reported as "armed police surround mosque"). I doubt the other scares in Britain that day made it into American news - I think there were three of four in the south of England alone.

Someone sets a package done for 5 minutes and the people freak out.

7. my first trip across the pond... |

... about this time last year. CDG airport (paris), the area where my bus is to arrive is suddenly being cleared, we are all pushed away from the area, no clue what is going on.
About one half hour later, as I'm walking along the terminal opposite, there is a loud *boom* as the authorities have control-exploded a bag that was left unattended on the sidewalk.
