It took a while, but the police eventually called me to say they had arrested him for child porn. Turned out he didn't really have a daughter, but clearly was a disturbed individual. The guy lived across the country. I called the town in CT he said he was from, and then gave a statement to my local police force, at the request of the CT police

We consider the Million Mom March to be traitors and liberty - destroyers and this group is intended to discuss ways to fight them, foil them and eventually eliminate them from the American political scene.

12. I'm very torn about the NRA and gun control.

I think "a well armed society is a polite society", and I would have no problem using lethal force on an attacker, but the NRA just seeks to scare people into voting against democrats.

let's face it, restraing orders and pepper spray don't always work, and knowing how to SAFELY protect yourself is a valuable skill to have.

That being said, anyone who advocates violence ageist women because of their political beliefs should be strung up by their balls and left there for a while.

...I'm a progressive, a Deadhead, a gun owner. Weird, eh?

I also an NOT a Pro-gun person, nor am I a member or supporter of the NRA. I Do support certain gun controls. If anyone else lived in my home, I wouldn't even OWN a gun. I have a very healthy respect for them, and an extremely high regard for human life. I like target shooting as a sport, and support those who must hunt for food. I'm not crazy about 'hunting' as a 'sport', especially not with sophisticated electronic gear and night scopes, etc. Takes the 'sport' out of it and turns it into 'slaughter'.

All that said, if it comes down to my life or the life of someone who wishes me harm, or wishes me dead...I'll shoot. I'll seek counseling later...I'll need it.

I am extremely progressive, yet I think everyone needs the right to protect themselves.

Little story, here in Western Pa the Dems lost a LOT of votes because of their perceived anti-gun stance. Thousands of blue collar Union voters who were otherwise very strong Dems turned their backs on the party, especially in 2000. They voted for bush, and santorum. The NRA did a heck of a job splitting them off and getting them to vote against their best interests over this one splinter issue.

My friend got a job working for the Unions...he is a rep, he goes to all the job sites and makes sure everything is okay, takes grievances, stuff like that. Well, he is a gun owner, and a strong liberal Democrat (not a DLC person at all). Starting in 2002 he started to re-educate the guys and gals he worked with. He preached that the Dems really are not anti-2cd amendment, that we just want reasonable regulations. He got them to understand we are NOT going to take away their guns! He said it was a helluva lot of work getting these people back into the fold...but in 2004 they in large part once again voted Democratic.

Be careful with this issue...it's just as divisive as abortion, and it shouldn't be. This is one issue it just doesn't make sense to lose any votes over. No sane gun owner is against reasonable safely regulations.
