My cousin is training to be an army recruiter
My cousin in Afghanistan returned not long ago and his sister told me that he is now in training to be a recruiter. I don't know if he will be an in-service recruiter or will be out looking for high school kids. I've been hesitant to mention this on DU because many opinions, mine included, are not very supportive especially in a time when we have illegally and immorally invade Iraq.

I want to see our military home and I want the senseless death and destruction to stop. Being a vet I still feel a close bond with those serving and if I was asked to serve right now, I would. As a former medic it was my job to save lives and I wouldn't hesitate to do the same for our military and the innocent civilians caught up in this hell.

Having said that if my children were asked, I would do everything I could to talk them out of it. I would rather go to war than to see them go.

1. It's obvious that you're a good person, cynatnite.
You want to use your service for the betterment of humanity.

I respect your loyalty to those who are serving. Unlike many people on the right, you are able to see the difference between the troops and the war itself.

It's also very apparent to me that you have great courage.

Thank you for sharing your current life situation.

2. The military is being abused by the Bush cabal.
It would really suck to be a recruiter right now.

3. From what I have read
being a recruiter is extremely stressful, with looming deadlines and quotas the recruters are basically forced to LIE to their potential recruits. Bad lies. We can supress your criminal record. Her's a drug kit to clean your urine. Very unethical.

5. What does "training" entail?
Hanging out in a Wal-Mart parking lot for hours?
