My number 1 George W. Bush pet peeve:
When he speaks, he doesn't pronounce the word to as "two," instead he says "ta." It drives me crazy! Is this a Texas thing? (Do you want ta go ta the movies?)

13. He's not the only one
Edited on Sat Sep-27-03 03:40 PM by Scairp
This has always made me nuts. I have listened to scientists speaking and mispronouncing this word. Bush does often though. He needs to take diction lessons or something.

15. Wouldn't you think
that by now some aid (Condi) would have broached the sensitive subject to him of not knowing how to pronounce the word nuclear?

Is sticking right out in front...he's trying to look dignified, this is all a game to him

4. Where do you start on this one?
Let me count the ways. This isn't a pet peeve, just an observation.
Have you ever noticed that when he gets down from the ramp of his Hellicopter, he lets out what looks like a cross between a belch and a cough. Looks a little like old Foster Brook's drunk routine. Check it out the next time he gets back to the WH. Also how he snorts out the side of his nose when he gets nervous. Ahhh, the body language tells all.

6. Pettiness...
Well, okay, if we're going to be criticizing Bush for inconsequential things ... One thing that really irritates me is the way he pronounces "nuclear". Another thing I can't stand about the man is that he's ... well, he's ugly, plain and simple, he's ugly as homemade sin. And he's got this kinda raspy voice that just makes my skin crawl.

But it's petty to be criticizing people for things like these. That's the sort of politics Republicans play. Those are the sorts of things the Republicans and the "liberal" media used to trash Gore during the 2000 campaign. We Democrats are better than that, I hope. There are plenty of CONSEQUENTIAL things to criticize Bush for. I think we should focus on those. It's because the truth was not on their side that Republicans had to resort to those petty things. We've got the truth on our side. Let's use it.

7. the way he yells when he speaks
Aw c'mon; where's your sense of humor? Did you not know the microcosm is the macrocosm? If the chimperor can affect every tiny bit of our lives, and he has, right down to the very polluted air we breath, we can pick on the chimp for any little thing.

I hate the way he yells when he speaks. It's like he doesn't have enough confidence in his normal speaking voice so he yells like a tinpot dictator. And his speech and diction are sloppy. How I loathe that.

I'm writing one for my friend, who is out of town and can't post. She hates the way he tries to explain something that's got a teensy weensy bit of complexity to it. He explains it to the public like they are three-year-old children. In fact we know that is how it was explained to him and he is just mimicking what he heard a handler say.

11. Yes that bothers me also
The way he tries to explain what we know, he doesn't himself, understand. I just it took as condescending. However, I like your explanation about how it was explained to him/just mimicking what he heard, much better. His smirk really ticks me off.

12. Have you ever noticed...
...how he chews on the inside of his cheek when he's nervous? I noticed this again as he was sitting and waiting to speak at the UN the other day. It makes him look so immature.

14. You mean other than being a stupid facist rat-bastard pig?
or that he's a phony elitist frat-boy corporate lap-dog pretending to be a down-home man of the people?

or that he's done everything to alienate America's friends and allies, and seems to want the entire world to be against us?

or that his major domestic policy objectives are aimed at destroying the 60% of the population that makes up the middle class and totally ignoring the 20% that are the lower working class - the very people who are the backbone of our economy?

Or that he's bent upon eliminating the protections of the Constitution for anyone who voices an opposing viewpoint?

Sorry, I can't think of anything.
