Fitzgerald is making this Case Confusing - IMHO
It hit me today like a diamond arrowhead through my forehead. On the surface this should be a very straightforward case. Either administration officials released the name of a covert agent or they didn't. Two years? I think not. It's taking two years for this prosecutor to pull the grand Jury back from what seems obvious to them and the rest of us. Your thoughts on this very "simple" observation from a very simple observer.

1. You have not heard his case
hence your assertion is without merit.

2. They appear to have done more
Like committed perjury and conspired to obstruct justice. From what I can see, that's why he wants testimony from every single person. Not to mention, who leaked to Rove & Libby, we are only beginning to speculate on that.

4. You're correct, I don't know..
it was offered as a humble opinion. And of course to get some discussion going.

10. OK, I think I understand what you're saying
the case IS confusing - sometimes I have to read, re-read and re-read articles about it because the cast of characters is getting long and I have to stop and think who is who. It is just not the fault of Fitz who really has been tight-lipped.

11. In Watergate
It wasn't the burglary; It was the coverup. I have watched yesterday's hearing four times already. I had chills.I am a cynic about many things but I have a good feeling about this one.

Yes it is confusing. It is also wonderful. The same person who wants us all to think that all he is interested in is our security just sent the whole world a message: We don't care about those who do dangerous things on our behalf. If they don't do the lockstep with our agenda we will ruin them. Or kill them.

Liars and spoiled brats, the lot of them. I can't wait until they are all gone back to the hellhole from which Satan spewed them to wreak havok on the world at large.

19. It really doesn't matter if any or all of us are confused as long as
Fitspatrick isn't confused and I don't really think he is. It's the people who are committing crimes that are issuing confusing statements just to confuse you. Don't fall for that crap.

5. Appears to me the people involved are trying to create a confusing circle
of who said what when. I think he is taking this very seriously and unraveling their cover stories. That isn't going to be easy with this gang of thugs.

6. Sometimes a simple case becomes complicated
when it starts to lead to one thing, then another thing, then another, and the Special Prosecutor has to pursue the leads he finds. I have a feeling there are layers of deceit in this case that are going to amaze alot of people....

I would think that, he too, would have to recuse himself.

23. That is what John W Dean suggests. It may come down to Conyers and
Sensenbrenner?

I wonder...

But he can extend it as long as the investigation is not conluded.

12. You're suffering from a lack of information
First, a good bit of that 2 years was consumed in part by lawsuits and appeals (remember Cooper and Miller??).

Second, there are some new developments you seem to not be aware of:

LA Times moves 'perjury' with Rove to front page
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1647163
Link: http://rawstory.com/news/2005/LA_TIMES_MOVES_WORD_ROVE_PERJURY_TO_FRONT_PA_0722.html

IOW, it seems to be more than a simple "leak" issue now, and that definitely compicates things, as does the growing list of characteris, both points which others upthread have noted.

16. This IS a confounding tangle of lies
It must require some carefull untangling to sort it all out.

Or maybe there is more to Fitzgerald's case than we realize.

I, for one, trust he is only taking the time he needs to bring this to a thorough and successful conclusion.

18. The good news is, Fitzgerald isn't confused at all.
I recall reading about him, that apparently the man has a mind like a steel trap, that he can connect the dots and instantly detect contradictions between one witness and another.

The White House is throwing out red herrings and otherwise trying to muddy the water. But as long as Fitzgerald isn't confused, that's all that matters. He's the man running the show. :)

21. The WH is praying the public is confused. FitzG is going for it ALL.
White House wants us to be confused. To think there is nothing to this more than "He said...he said." But the core crime isn't confusing. The White House outed a CIA agent and then lied about it.

I think at this point Fitzgerald has all he needs to make the initial case. But now I think he's going for all the subsequent charges...perjury, obstruction of justice, conspiracy.

According to Cooper's article after he testified, the Grand Jury did not seem confused at all. Instead, it sounded like they were very pointed in what they wanted to know.

22. He may be digging a lot deeper than it seems
Fitzgerald's reputation is that he will dig down to get every single scrap of evidence. You are also forgetting that a large part of the case relied on the corroboration of the other journalists. They refused to cooperate, and took it all the way to the Supreme Court. That is a big reason for why it has taken so long. Also, keep in mind, that he is still trying other cases as U.S. Attorney in Chicago. He isn't like Ken Starr, who was focusing on Clinton 24/7.
