Rove Payback? Crains Chgo questions Patrick Fitzgerald hire's appointement
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 05:57 PM by wndycty
I'm not sure if this is payback, but Patrick Fitzgerald has beat the shit out of the White House and Chicago's City Hall. I wonder if Daley or Rove has anything to do with this article.

Fitzgerald hire raises eyebrows
Staffer played key role in selecting prosecutor
By Greg Hinz

U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who has tormented City Hall and the White House with unrelenting probes of political misconduct, has hired a former congressional aide who played a key role in getting him his job.

Mr. Fitzgerald hired Margaret Hickey eight months ago as an assistant U.S. attorney here, earning about $142,000 a year. Until a few days before that, she was Illinois chief of staff and general counsel for then-U.S. Sen. Peter Fitzgerald, who recommended Patrick Fitzgerald to the White House.

Ms. Hickey was one of two Senate staffers who assisted Sen. Fitzgerald in making his choice.

In a phone interview, Patrick Fitzgerald, who has launched an unprecedented assault on political practices such as patronage hiring and government leaks as U.S. attorney here and a special prosecutor in Washington, D.C., rejects any suggestion that hiring Ms. Hickey undermines his reform credentials.

4. And probably making payoffs with our taxpayer money.
I hope it only deepens Fitzgerald's determination to clean up the government.

6. This is the doing of the IL GOP for revenge at the behest of both
Daley and Rove.

Ryan goes to trial soon. There are unwritten agreements between the IL GOP and the Daley Machine, too. The guy who ran Daley's Water Department who was recently indicted is the father of what used to be the Will County Prosecutor. That man was a Republican because it's Republicans who get elected in Chicago suburbs.

Daley is scum, Ryan is scum, the entire apparatus of both parties are scummier than scum.

The IL GOP is still pissed off at Pete Fitzgerald, too.

The whole damned mess is interconnected and corrupt.

Thank the Goddess for Patrick Fitzgerald

10. It's payback for Ryan, Rove, AND Daley
Ryan's downfall coincides with the downfall of the IL GOP.

Rove is going down and the GOP knows it.

Daley is going down and his machine doesn't like it.

8. Hinz always struck me as a republican apologist
I recall him downplaying the George Ryan scandal.

Among the pack of Chicago media hacks that always winked and chuckled at the corruption, downplaying it all. They resent Fitzgerald from spoiling their fun and messing up the "local color."

9. So, Trent Lott's chief of staff was hired by the repug
USAttorney that Lott nominated for the post. These folks do this all the time.

What is good for the goose, so to speak. Standard practice within the community.

My suspicions are perhaps unfounded (I'm still shell-shocked from years of propaganda):
