1. right wing bullshit
It's not true. Wilson has been very clear on multiple occasions in his statements that she was an active NOC.

2. Perhaps you've missed out on the last week of news...
...I recommend you rewind about one week and try again. Plame was a covert CIA asset. She may have had a desk, even done some work at it, but the State Dept memo on her was CLEARLY MARKED "TS - NSF" (Top Secret - Not to be Seen by Foreigners). The CIA also remanded the case for investigation and prosecution. They don't do that for desk jockeys.

You'll have to move on to RNC talking point #44b.320. I think they are actually gearing up to next try and slime Fitzgerald, might want to catch up.

4. Many agents who are deep undercover have desks at the CIA
there is tons of documentation-including the file marked 'top secret'-that point to her status.

She's a smart, experienced, attractive blonde woman. How many covert agents like that do you think the CIA has?

8. The CIA wouldn't have requested an investigation on the leak of the name
of a "desk jockey".

The right wing has severe problems with simple logic.

9. Sounds like you missed yesterday's hearing on Cspan.
The whole "desk jockey" myth was debunked pretty well during that by several people. I believe Cspan has re-aired the hearing several times (I've seen parts of it AT LEAST three or four times since it's original airing) so maybe they will show it again. It's very educational, and would be just as educational for a Republican to watch as it is for Democrats.

10. "Desk Jockey" are key words for the propaganda frame.
By their definition, Bush is really the desk jockey, but the really dumb creatures that watch FOX do not know or understand what is happening to their tiny minds.

17. Irrelevant
Something that was both horrible and very important happened. We don't know for sure whether it was the outing of Valerie Plame or maybe the cover company she worked for or her associates, but we can be sure that something serious is at stake.

Why? Because otherwise, the court would never have placed Judith Miller in jail for contempt of court. Anyone who has clerked and assisted a court in deciding to issue a contempt order knows that before issuing such an order, the judge or judges weigh(s) the interests of the party to be held in contempt against those of the party asking that the person be held in contempt. Judith Miller was a journalist. Her interest in protecting her source is one of the most important, even sacred interests. For that reason, it is extremely rare to issue a contempt order against a journalist who refuses to give up a source. The prosecutor's interest in obtaining the name or names of Miller's source(s) had to be even more compelling than Miller's interest in protecting her source.

That is how we know that something very serious is at stake here. We don't know exactly what it is, but we know without any question that it is a matter of grave concern. Focusing on whether Plame was under cover is a waste of time. It doesn't matter.

20. Here's what Reagan said when he signed the legislation into law
Part of a speech he gave when he signed the 1982 Intelligence Identities Protection Act:

"...Whether you work in Langley or a faraway nation, whether your tasks are in operations or analysis sections, it is upon your intellect and integrity, your wit and intuition that the fate of freedom rests for millions of your countrymen and for many millions more all around the globe. You are the trip-wire across which the forces of repression and tyranny must stumble in their quest for global domination. You, the men and women of the CIA, are the eyes and ears of the free world.

Like those who are part of any silent service, your sacrifices are sometimes unappreciated; your work is sometimes misunderstood. Because you’re professionals, you understand and accept this. But because you’re human and because you deal daily in the dangers that confront this nation, you must sometimes question whether some of your countrymen appreciate the value of your accomplishments, the sacrifices you make, the dangers you confront, the importance of the warnings that you issue.

As I’ve said, the enactment of the Intelligence Identities Protection Act is clear evidence of the value this nation places on its intelligence agencies and their personnel. It’s a vote of confidence in you by the American people through their elected representatives. It’s also a tribute to the strength of our democracy. ..."
