Some examples of hope in my newspaper today....
First in the NY Times article (reprinted in the Denver Post) this theory from a scholar at Colorado College:

David C. Hendrickson, a scholar on foreign policy and the presidency at Colorado College, said, "(President) Bush understands that the support of the public for war - especially the war in Iraq - is conditioned on demanding little of the public."

Followed by this excerpt from an LTTE to the Denver Post:

I have to chuckle every time I see a hulking SUV with a "Support our Troops" ribbon on it. If it weren't for these gas hogs, we wouldn't be in Iraq trying to steal their oil. So, if you really want to support our troops, get a fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly car instead of the behemoth you're driving.

Michael Kanarish, Parker

And then, this gem...I'm sure astute DU'ers have seen and used this gwb quote before, but I'm glad to see it get exposure now.

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is." A Democrat criticizing President Bush's handling of the Iraq war? No. It's George W. Bush in 1999, on Clinton's intervention in Kosovo.

Ben Anderson, Castle Rock

Journalists, academics and citizens calling the shots as they see them and it's finally being covered.

2. I know what you mean, but I have to say a year ago and especially two
years ago, these type of LTTE's and the reprinting of the NYT article in addition to a prominent local scholar's being willing to state the propaganda slant to gwb's illegal war...well, they just wouldn't have been written or published, at least not consistently.

I hope against hope the tide is truly turning, and this will hasten the end to this evil administration's actions in Iraq. MKJ

3. Nothing Has Changed!
Don't believe your eyes or ears and believe the tide has turned. I hardly think that a couple of weeks worth of positive coverage indicates that suddenly things are going to be reported in a legitimate manner. It's WAY Too Soon, and the MSM has plenty of catching up to do, after Years & Years of inadequate coverage and Honesty.

I will start watching when they really start nailing these Bastards to the wall, and it's not even close to that yet. The media is still waffeling in a big way, it's not going to happen overnight.

4. OCD, thanks for the dash of reality. I'm still taking my hope where I can
get it, just because I had given up that the Plame situation would ever pan out in a significant way. And it has.

You're so right, the msm is pathetic. I still don't know why they can't question the cognitive changes and facial twitches that are so evident with gwb. The guy's an utter wreck yet not a peep in media.
