Clark's volunteer work: getting shot up in Vietnam
so we can kvetch about his volunteer work.

offering his life to protect the US constitution. Good enough progressive volunteer work for me.

1. Vietnam was not about protecting the US Constitution
That is not why we were there. That is what Nixon said, (Oh right, he voted for Nixon so he may believe that to.)

Also, not volunteer work, but a paid position. That does not take away from the fact that he served honorably.

2. Right but he served to
defend it and had no choice what they did to him from there.

3. That is why I said it does not take away from his serving honorably
I am in a relationship with someone who just finished 6 years in the military. He did not join to defend the Constitution, but to get an education. He served in Guantanamo and elsewhere. I don't think he wound up serving the Constitution. But he would have been available to do so. If the need had honestly arose.

6. Exactly. When he joined, he offered up his life
that counts for alot in my book
(but I don't hold draft dodging against anybody except bushco hypocrites)

4. After graduating from WP,
Clark worked with a inner-city poverty program in NYC. He left when he received a Rhodes.

7. while his military service is truly admirable
it's not exactly volunteer, and hardly progressive.
