Beware! "Rape Pits" may become the "Evidence" that supports Iraq Invasion!
Edited on Sat Sep-27-03 04:21 PM by KoKo01
In Bush's speech to the UN this week he veered off into an incredible diatribe against what had been found in Iraq which proved why we needed to Invade and Liberate. The words "Rape Pits" and "Torture Chambers" were used which are words that cause even the most hardened or cynical Bush Watcher to sit up more sharply and then cringe.

Today in the broadcase of his press conference with Russia's Putin he again mentioned "Rape Pits and Torture Chambers."
His use of this twice in one week when the reports are that no evidence of WMC/Chem/Bio have been found in Iraq, leads me to believe that what might be coming very soon are pictures of "Torture Chambers with graphic depicticions and descriptions of impliments of what went on in the "Rape Pits." The look on Bush's face every time he mentioned those words....is very odd....almost as if he's relishing the words as he speaks them.....anticipating.......

I could be wrong......but it's just too clear a signal. He's got to come up with something soon......and what he's talking about would not be so hard to find ...(given that one of Saddam's sons is reported to have had some strange habits) as finding the WMD/CHEM/BIO that were supposed to be there.

I wonder if outrage over the new evidence will be enough to turn the tide of public approval back in his direction. If it's what I think.....the evidence will be all over the cables night and day.....and female and male sexual brutality is something folks get pretty upset about.....and rightly so.......

On Edit: What I'm trying to say is that he will make it seem that Iraq was equal to Nazi Germany in it's vile treatment of Jews and others in the Concentration Camps. He will say millions were raped and tortured and make the comparison.

6. GBNC, I couldn't download your links....but I read the articles when they
were posted.....and it's indeed horrible. But, for Bush to base the Invasion of Iraq on what he will say he found there......does bear some stretching of evidence in changing his reason from WMD/C/B to torture and sexual abuse.

2. So this type of brutality only happened in Iraq? It isn't going on now
in Africa, Afganistan, and other places? And this is going to be the new justification of killing thousands of innocent people. I don't think so, because it just won't fly. Not with anyone with two working brain cells.

38. No! It's NOT FOOTBALL....This would be Bush portraying it as MASSIVE SCALE
RAPE PITS.....with GRAPHIC NATIONAL ENQUIRER GRAPHICS and "Torture Chambers" WITH MANACLES AND STRETCHING MACHINES OUT OF THE "MIDDLE AGES!"

We might have thought those Pic's of the Hussein Children were off the wall in graphics (photo's of Uday and Quasay) strapped to those marble morgue tables with their wounds stictched and their waxen faces.....but this could be massive photo's of stuff that would make us all be "Stomping with Joy that we OUSTED SADDAM!"

OMG.....this "DEPRAVED MONSTER" did these horrible things to his own people! It's like HITLER, HITLER, HITLER!

Thank God Almighty.....that we took that POS out of that Country so that these people won't be subjected to those "RAPE PITS & TORTUE CHAMBERS!

OMG WE DID THE HUMANITARIAN THING!!!!!!

13. Re his facial expressions
while saying this (I didn't see it but take your word for it). Mark Crispen Miller noted that Bush's speech tends to become clear (less slurred), more selfassured and comfortable - when he is describing things that cause pain to others. As if he is secretly sadistic. Might that fit with what you note?

Try to equate Iraq with the Murdering of the Millions of Jews and others in Nazi Germany. I think he's lowdown enough to do that. Or, Rove or Rummy are!

into thinking that this was so dreadful it's WORSE than WMD/CHEM/BIO....and INDEED is JUSTIFICATION for the Iraq Invasion. Remember he always said that Saddam "is a Murderer and a Torturer...and we are bringing him to justice." What he forgot was.....most Americans feel "justice" is the court......and Bush feels "justice" is a "Bounty on your head.....Wanted! Dead or Alive!"

Justice to Bush....is a bullet in your head! :-(......Not what I was taught about American Justice when I was in school.........but HEY! Times have changed.....since 9/11......What the Hell! Anything Goes!

18. The crimes of a handful of people can't possibly justify an invasion
of a country. It won't work. It WILL work with the usual dittoheads because we are constantly having to pay for their deep-seated sexual and aggression problems, but it won't work with anyone else.
The only reason they pulled off the immoral carpet bombing of Afghanistan was because people were too much in shock to think and the Crime Family and Congress took advantage of that.

19. Classic Rovian Strategy
His Chimperial Highness is attempting to manipulation public opinion by pretending to steal progressive ideas at election time, because it works so well with the people who don't pay attention and don't know what really has been going on.

He is attempting to be the Black Man's candidate by railing on about slavery, and proclaiming the immense talents of Condi Rice (even though she is hopelessly incompetent. Message: Bush is better for blacks. (I predict that if he really tanks in the polls, he will drop Cheney and will make Condi his VP running mate in the most cynical ploy imaginable, so people will, theoretically, rally behind The First Black Woman VP).

So now, raising the Rape issue, he's trying to show how he is the Woman's Candidate, who is Compassionate About Women's Issues. Not like those Democrats -- and gee, don't a lot of Democrats already say that the Party doesn't support blacks and women as they should?

Watch for more of this. The guy who motto seems to be "Who do you trust -- me, or your own eyes?" is just going to pile it on higher and deeper in 2004, and anyone who is not expecting this and preparing to confront it is not real smart.

42. Exactly
The war may have been based on lies, but in the end Bush is a "hero" because he ultimately rescued millions from a horrible fate. Once again, he slides. His "hero" status gives him a free pass on the obnoxious comments like "bring 'em on" because a hero often will act audacious and arrogant.
Rove's genius has been in creating Bush's image then filling in illusory details he can play with. This another attempt. I'm not sure what to think about the odds of it working.

27. Have we ever gone to war for humanitarian reasons?
Even WWII with the Holocaust and concentration camps and the attempted wiping out an entire group of people, we did not get involved until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

We knew about what the Taliban was doing to women in Afghanistan for years before we attacked them, and we only attacked them because Mullah Omar allowed a safe haven for members of al Qaeda.

Iraq: It's the oil.

I might support a war for humaitarian reasons, but only if we the people are dealt with honestly and the oppressed people want us to boot out the oppressors for them.

He lied about everything and finding evidence of human cruelty isn't good enough. We knew it was happening BEFORE we went in and the Wannabe Warhero never said a single word about it.

45. What's he going to do about rape in America?
He wasn't elected Iraq president, but he was (sort of) elected ours. According to NOW:
"Every year approximately 132,000 women report that they have been victims of rape or attempted rape, and more than half of them knew their attackers. It's estimated that two to six times that many women are raped, but do not report it. Every year 1.2 million women are forcibly raped by their current or former male partners, some more than once."

I guess rape is only wrong when committed by non-American men.

Hypocritical PNAC wars to build the Empire are not ways to do it. As ongoing structural violence in Iraq and Afghanistan demonstrates. Surely no one is buying this? Even the knuckle draggers watching Fox? Oh, what a stupid question. Of course they are.
