Poll question: When the White House refuses to release the papers this means
Once again information is requested from the White House about SCOTUS nominee John Roberts and as reliable as the atomic clock, the White House refuses to release the documents. When you hear that the White House refuses to assist by releasing information needed by the senate to make informed decisions what does this mean to you?

White House Won't Show All Roberts Papers

By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL, Associated Press Writer
Sun Jul 24, 1:42 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Citing privacy and precedent, the Bush administration indicated Sunday it does not intend to release all memos and other documents written by Supreme Court nominee John Roberts when he worked for two Republican presidents.

The leading Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which will conduct hearings on Roberts' nomination, disputed the assertion that privacy was at stake and called such a position a "red herring."

4. If Dubya REALLY wants to "bring this country together",
he could start by nominating candidates about whom he has NOTHING to hide.

8. Other, if I may:
The White House is obfuscating by refusing to release documents as a matter of course, claiming that the White House is the final arbiter of what can be released.

9. It is possible to read to much into this
This is politics on both sides. We are demanding the papers because we know they won't want to give them - unless I've missed something, people haven't made specific accusations against him. We want the papers so we can "go fishing" and find bad stuff about Mr. Blank.

15. Other.
President Bush has already warned us that the terrorists are cold-blooded. They could shoot an innocent person in cold blood, and feel no guilt. President Bush is simply protecting us, by hiding papers/records on this court nominee and everything else, because of the cold-blooded threat of the terrorists. You aren't privy to all the secrets he is. Trust him.
