it's strange that Bolton and Card aren't among the names in the list...

edit: ok after some googling, I've found that John Bolton apparently did testify before the grand jury.

there's also talk of Mark Grossman testifying, tho apparently unconfirmed also...

maybe you can make an additional 'unconfirmed' category...

here's a preliminary link (lookin for better source):

confirmations.

Bolton is certainly a possible for grand jury testimony. MSNBC reported that he did testify and there was a brief stink because he didn't show it on his "Pending Cases" disclosure form in connection with his nomination to the UN. But I later saw a report that backed away from this.

18. They wouldn't do it for the 911 Commission either. Fitz
probably could subpoena them but they'd likely invoke executive privilege. Nixon never testified during Watergate for the same reason, I think.

That crew needs to be seriously investigated, esp. if the rumors either Ghorbanifar or Ledeen actually forged the document are true.

Also, what are your sources on these?

30. How Many Journalist Were Called?
I've never quite gotten a handle on how many journalists and who were given Plame's info.

Novak is a given as is Cooper and Miller. Tweety said he was "offered" the names as did Russert and Mitchell. I see Walter Pincus name on the list and he's said he's testified and his source hasn't been publicly disclosed yet (Hadley???), but that still leaves a few others off that list.

We assume Russert's testified...he hasn't said so publicly that I know of and probably Mitchell. The interesting thing is how Tweety's was gone a lot of last week on Slimeball...especially the programs involving Rove/Plame. My radar suspects he's too close to the fire here and being kept in the cooler.

So are there any other reporters who we've missed?

A great list. This is definitely worth bookmarking for making future scorecards.

36. Here's a list of reporters with whom Fitz thinks the WH may
have had contacts. Fitz subpoenaed all records reflecting contacts with the following journalists:

A federal grand jury has subpoenaed White House records on administration contacts with more than two dozen journalists and news media outlets in a special investigation into the improper leak of a covert CIA official's identity to columnist Robert Novak last July. They include:

Robert Novak, "Crossfire," "Capital Gang" and the Chicago Sun-Times
Knut Royce and Timothy M. Phelps, Newsday
Walter Pincus, Richard Leiby, Mike Allen, Dana Priest and Glenn Kessler, The Washington Post
Matthew Cooper, John Dickerson, Massimo Calabresi, Michael Duffy and James Carney, Time magazine
Evan Thomas, Newsweek
Andrea Mitchell, "Meet the Press," NBC
Chris Matthews, "Hardball," MSNBC
Tim Russert, Campbell Brown, NBC
Nicholas D. Kristof, David E. Sanger and Judith Miller, The New York Times
Greg Hitt and Paul Gigot, The Wall Street Journal
John Solomon, The Associated Press
Jeff Gannon, Talon News

37. Thank-You...An Interesting List
I hadn't seen all the names, and I assume they've all testified (sans Miller). It'll be interesting if ALL those stories jive with the ones Mr. Rove & Libby & others tell. Pardon my gloating, but I smell a lot of conflicting stories coming out of all these names being paraded in front of that jury (hope the judge lets them take lots of notes).

My next question would be how many others were interviewed or their names got tangled up into this mess. Meaning, Novak might have shared his knowledge with someone prior to publishing...this is also illegal passing of classified information. I'm curious if Fitzgerald's people tried to dig how far and wide this leak went before it broke into the open.

Either way, that list should be kept handy by all following this case and want an idea of who this regime thought were their media "pals". These were the people they felt either friendly enough to assist in their smears or could be easily duped into planting fraudulent stories.

Cheers...

38. I would assume that most have NOT testified. They'd have to
divulge their sources. The subpoenas went to the White House, not the reporters. It wouldn't surprise me though if all or most were at least interviewed by the FBI. The FBI might want to know who claimed a privilege and draw conclusions from how the reporters responded.

As to Novak sharing information, there was some of that, possibly.
Before he wrote his story, Novak bumped into a friend of Wilson's on the street. The friend asked him about Wilson and Novak reportedly told the friend that Wilson was "an asshole" and that Wilson's wife sent him on the mission.

Yeah, these are, for the most part, all people that we should now be wary of -- not that we weren't already!

25. Nice work. As you continue, it might be helpful to distinguish
between those called before the Grand Jury who might be simply "witnesses," like Cooper, Wilson, etc., and those who are complicit in the act of treason (and might be turned into informants) like maybe Novak and Miller as well as the WH operatives.

Since you mentioned Mary Matalin. Where is James Carville????

In the past he and his wife have fought passionately on TV over any and all issues they disagreed on...which was every issue. Why isn't he out there giving it to Karl Rove???? The fact that he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth may be a sign that this is the big one!

"However, a producer for MSNBC’s Hardball program testified before the grand jury that in July, 2003, Rove called the show’s host, Chris Matthews, and said Plame was “fair game.”"

I Have NO IDEA who the producer is.

34. Capitol Hill Blue is a shaky source. They make things up
sometimes. It sounds implausible to me that Fitz would subpoena a producer and elicit hearsay testimony when he could just subpoena Matthews and have him say it personally. Perhaps it's a way of getting around the source-reporter privilege, but it sounds goofy to me. If the producer got this from Matthews, the privilege would be gone.

40.  So does Guckert have a role in this?
Saw this while surfing:

10. The Disclosure by an Unidentified Source to James Guckert of Talon News

On October 28, 2003, Talon News posted on its website an interview with Ambassador Joseph Wilson in which the questioner asked: "An internal government memo prepared by U.S. intelligence personnel details a meeting in early 2002 where your wife, a member of the agency or clandestine service working on Iraqi weapons issues, suggested that you could be sent to investigate the reports. Do you dispute that?" Talon News is tied to a group called GOP USA and is operated by Texas Republican Robert Eberle.
Its only reporter, James Guckert (also known as Jeff Gannon), resigned when it was revealed that he gained access to the White House using a false name after his press credentials were rejected by House and Senate press galleries. In a March 2004 interview with his own news service, Mr. Guckert stated that the classified document was "easily accessible." In a February 11, 2005, interview with Wolf Blitzer of CNN, Mr. Guckert said the FBI interviewed him about "how I knew or received a copy of a confidential CIA memo," but he refused to answer FBI questions because of his status as a "journalist." A week later, Mr. Guckert changed his account, claiming he "was given no special information by the White House or by anybody else."

------------------------------------------

The site has a list of the different "disclosures" and their timelines.
