BREAKING: Brain Scans Confirm Damage To The President's "Morality Center"
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 11:20 AM by DistressedAmerican
11:50 AM July 25, 2005

Washington - Doctors revealed today that a series of brain scans taken between November 2000 and today reveal a disturbing pattern of atrophy to Bush's "Morality Center", the region of the brain that allows us to distinguish right from wrong.

"At this time, it appears that the damage is significant and irreversible." said, Dr Cyrus Tinkerbrain, chief of neurology at Bethesda Naval Hospital. "We speculate that the original damage was caused by years of excessive drinking and cocaine addiction. However, the rate of decay seems to have sped up considerably after his 2000 appointment to the office by the Supreme Court."

The condition, which is not terminal (to him anyway) is thought to have seriously impaired his thinking and judgment.

Evidence for this comes from a number of sources including the many military detention centers around the world where detainees are tortured on direct and indirect orders from the White House.

Tragically, Constitutional scholar Thurgood Libel suggests that "lack of morality", in and of itself, is not a constitutionally mandated reason for removal from office. However, he notes that the logical outcome of such impairment will "likely lead to numerous impeachable offenses".

3. I would argue that he was born without....
a morality center...especially since he continues to kill children in Iraq so that we can continue to have cheap oil here

4. I Do Not Think That He Is Genetically Dysfunctional. I Think Had He Been
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 11:18 AM by DistressedAmerican
taken away from his family at birth and raise by some liberals, he may have had a chance. Although, he certainly didn't get any genetic gifts from his repulsive parents.

Nature vs. Nurture

I doubt a "killing for profit gene". However, if there is such a thing, he definitely inherited it. Probably a recessive gene if it exists. Combining the recessives from both parents, he may well have had it expressed.

7. Technically, the "morality center" is more anterior in the frontal lobes.
The graphic seems to suggest that the septal nuclei is the "morality center," when in fact this region is implicated in memory formation and learning.

The "morality center," if there is such a discrete locus, is more than likely to be in the ventromedial and/or orbitofrontal prefrontal cortex.

Those who are interested in this sort of thing may be interested in the case of Phineas Gage, a 19th century railworker who sustained a massive penetrating head wound that negatively affected his personality and morality. Prior to his injury, Phineas was reported as affable, punctual, and a goodly citizen. After his prefrontal lobe injury, Phineas became a hard-drinking son-of-a-bitch.

8. Also, scan shows a significant stroke of the right middle cerebral artery
If that were Shrub's scan, he'd be in serious trouble. That dark region on the left (which is actually the right side of the brain) is a region of recent hemorrhage that has swelled to push the midline brain structures to the left. Gotta wonder if this poor person survived such an intracranial accident...

A more likely scenario for any Shrub MRI would be signs/spots of white matter damage secondary to ischemic damage (i.e., lack of O2) from his cocaine and boozing days. In Shrub's favor, he's probably in good cerebrovascular health...but I suspect he may have blown a few arterioles in his coke days. Cocaine is VERY hard on your cerebrovascular system and the most frequent complication from cocaine use aside from heart attacks is ischemic stroke.

Unfortunately, I suspect that Shrub's imaging results would be more suggestive of premorbid/developmental abnormalities. In short, he was just "born bad."

Although, I have to say it was the neuroanatomy that made me shift gears and become an anthropologist...

14. Would be very interesting to have the real scans - Bush does seem to be
deteriorating. Falling often, incoherent and rambling in his speech, easily confused or enraged. (They don't dare let him give a speech without his cheat-box transmitting the answers, and even with it he's barely coherent.) This is in addition to his apparent lack of any conscience, which from old stories he may always have had. I bet careful brain scans would show a progressive deterioration for real.

17. But, but - Rove & Cheney - what's their excuse for amoral behavior?
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 04:59 PM by checks-n-balances
What do the experts say about them?

With apologies to innocent people everywhere with brain impairment, I have to say I'm not surprised to find out that GWB is brain-damaged.

This post is fascinating, but I also think that this diagnosis/theory lets him off too easily, though.

18. Dr Frist performed a full frontal moralectomy on them
And as for Frist's reasons for being mean, well, he's just a mean motherfucker.

21. And I think we can agree Dr. Frist had his personality surgically removed
quite some time ago.

And to update my list:

1. Bush has a damaged brain;

2. Cheney's heart isn't diseased - he's just heartless.

3. And Rove's most obvious flaw (disguised as an asset) is that he truly has the mind of a hardened criminal!

23. 'objects may be smaller than they appear'
*'s so-called "morality" center is much smaller than shown, and his is located in the groin region, rather than the cranium
