Bush wants business to contribute more to RELIGIOUS organizations
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 04:38 PM by Bluebear
WASHINGTON, July 25 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush plans a meeting of corporate and religious leaders next year to increase business contributions to social programs sponsored by religious organizations, the White House said on Monday.

Bush discussed the idea during a 40-minute meeting with 20 African-American leaders as part of his push to encourage contributions to faith-based groups that provide social service programs to their communities.

Bush, who publicly talks about his own Christian beliefs, advocates providing government funds to religious organizations for their community programs but critics say that crosses the traditional separation of church and state.

"Many large corporations have policies that explicitly rule out donations or grants to faith-based organizations regardless of their effectiveness," Jim Towey, director of the White House office of faith-based and community initiatives, said.

1. Why?
That would leave less in the pockets of the cabal.

5. No
It would allow the cabal to cut more federally funded social programs by pointing out that religious groups can do the job much better then the government, and that they have corporate support.

It's also another way for Bush to buy African American votes, by buying the religious leaders of the African American community, and
convincing them to convince their parishoners that voting Republican
isn't a bad thing.

6. because then they can cut non-religious federally funded programs
for the poor. They will say the need is not there, the religious groups are taking care of the poor.

They hate federally funded programs, period. Medicaid, medicare, social security... never forget "Norquist is famous for his widely quoted comment that he wants to shrink government “down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”

That is why they don't hate deficits. A huge deficit (spending on WHATEVER helps corporate interests, new technology, new weapons systems) means that Joe Taxpayer will take "sacrifices" like cutting pre-school programs as a must because we need to "balance the budget".

Or, God Forbid, to their employee's wages and health benefits?

8. Towey is a Moonie. Gave opening remarks for Moon's 3day celebration
in 2003, and has moonies hired to promote the abstinence and marriage initiatives sanctioned by the White House.

13. Does anyone realize what this means in the long run?
It means fattening the wallets of those churches favorable to the Christian Reconstructionists/Dominionists. This is an underhanded way to get return campaign donations from the faux Christian groups that preach hatred and bigotry.
